Abstract— This paper gives a vivid understanding of the importance of ManageEngine OpManager tool in the system. Its potential ability to detect and monitor any network issues will help the business enterprise to run successfully.The paper further concludesbygivingsomelimitationsof ManageEngine OpManager. Keywords— networking, troubleshoot, benefits. I.INTRODUCTION Setting up a business is easy but to manage the issues can be very challenging especially if it is exposed to online presence. The computer networks establishedbyeveryenterprisecanmustbe monitored continuously, as every network is prone to errors. It should not happen that because of the network issues they might be losing potential users. Therefore, it is important to minimize and manage the faults and to troubleshoot them. Hence, integrated softwaresuchasManageEngineOpManagerwill manage the entire network into a single exe [1]. The improvement of network and performances is an important aspect to keep the business at the top of the leading industries. II.MANAGEENGINEOPMANAGER ManageEngineOpManagerisatypeof software which performs network monitoring and identifies any faults and issues proactively within the business enterprise networks. It provides an end-to- end management service for Diverseandmulti-vendorbusinessnetwork.The ManageEngineOpManagerprovidesthefollowing functions: Network monitoring, Fault management, ConfigurationNetworkPerformancemanagement, Bandwidthanalysis,FirewallmanagementandIP address management. It gives and integrated and quick control over network faults [2]. It helps in configuring devices and monitors and easily deploys newdevicesinthenetwork.Themainaimof ManageEngine OpManager is to monitor the network, identifying the issues, fixing those issues and then findsoutstherootcauseoftheissues.TheIT companies basically relies on OpManager. A.Network Performance Management The most crucial aspect of every enterprise and IT industry is Network. If the network is slow, then it can adversely affect the productivity of the business. This will generate a negative impact towards the customer and ultimately the revenue.Network managementistheprocessofcontrollingand managing of a network by using several technologies and tools in order to enhance the performance and to match the objective of business requirements [3]. The motive of the network management is to gain a completeerrorfreenetwork.Thenetwork performance management is used to troubleshoot the faults to ensure the smooth working of the network. It involvesmanualorautogeneratedapproachto restore the network to its original condition. The OpManger does this with the help of two tools. Inbuilt toolslikeping,MIBbrowserandtracerouteand Network Configuration Management module includes automaticbackupsandchangesoccurringinthe configuration setting [7]. The OpManager gives an opportunity to identify the faults pertaining in the network. It allows to set thresholds, if any violation
occurs within the threshold then it notifies those via email or SMS. Then the alarm raises alerts to look after the fault. The ManageEngine OpManager is a perfect fitformonitoringnetworkbecauseitgivesan opportunity to resolve any network outrages instantly and controls the further disruptions. The outstanding featuresofOpManagerissopowerfulthatit proactively recognizes any issues pertaining in the connection. Thus, the features can be summed up as: Monitoring the network devices. Gives clear understanding of network traffics. Troubleshoots problems occurring in WAN. Troubleshoots and monitor the performance of VoIP. Changes the network automatically. The continuous network monitoring helps in delivering the in-depth visibility and securing the network [8]. III.APPLICATIONSOFMANAGEENGINEOPMANAGER It is a well-known fact that every business enterprise uses complicated infrastructures in order to cope with the business needs. The use of servers, databases, URL’s are common. Hence it is important to ensure the proper working of those applications. Since there can be high probability of production issues, therefore complete and proper visibility over the network is mandatory. The OpManager helps the same [4]. There can be ample number of benefits associated with such tools. There are several applications and benefits associate with ManageEngine OpManager. Some includes: It serves as an efficient tool for IT. Does not requires complex maintenance It provides its service of monitoring as soon as the software is installed in the system by its quick and easy setup. Effectively resolves any fault in the network by eliminating the root cause of the problem It is less costly and affordable. Monitors the in depth performance. Efficiently manages the IP address and switch port. Minimizes and ignores down time by optimizing the resources [9]. Increases employee’s productivity. A.Real-time availabilty monitor Real time monitor of networking gives an instant reaction to any unauthorized event. The real timemonitoringisusedespeciallyinITand manufacturing industries to provide information and to give warning if any fault is to be occurred. The ManageEngine OpManager provides constant updates about the efficient working of the network devices [10].Therearetypesofreal-timeavailability monitoring services: 1.Device: This availability monitoring constantly monitors the whole network and pings the devices after every two minute. If the devices does not reply then it is considered to be unavailable. 2.Interface: It provides the report of number of interfacesavailableondaily,weeklyand monthlybasis.Theportstatusisthen transferred to the multi facets. 3.Service: this helps in providing all kinds of reports and graphs for the availability of TCP servers that is being monitored. 4.Website: the OpManger also monitors the website and the sites, URL’s, HTTP and checks the content of the website. 5.Process: with the help of different protocols the OpManager monitors the various process that is running on the windows. 6.Windows: the OpManagers performs windows monitoring by using WMI. It automatically configures and restarts the system if any server hack occurs. B.Network Traffic Analysis Networktrafficanalysisisperformedto understand the type of data packet that is flowing across the network. IV.MANAGEENGINEOPMANAGERANDZABBIX A.Similarity: Zabbix and OpManager are used as a tool to monitor network. Both the tool can be used by small medium and large business enterprises. Bothfacilitatesthetechnologyof email, training, tickets and phone. B.Differences: OpManager is ranked in 17thplace of the network monitor software with 6 reviews whereas Zabbix is ranked 1stwith 23 reviews. Zabbix has satisfied 97% of its users whereas OpManager satisfies 95% of its users. Zabbixhasgot9.4ratingwhereas OpManager has got 8.8 rating score by the customer [6]. ZabbixSupportstwolanguages: EnglishandJapanesebutOpManager supports only English language. TheprominentclientofZabbix includesChinanetCloudand Bodybukiding.comwhereastheprominent clients of OpManager includes NASA, DHL and Siemens. Though it has remarkable features still nit encompasses some drawbacks within itself.It does not provide data migration to third party and the interface used is hard
