CAREER DEVELOPMENT PLAN WITH REFLECTION & EVIDENCE

MANAGEMENT 1
Description-
As a child, I had a dream to start my own business where I am able to profitably manage it. In
the pursuit of my dream, I charted my career path by getting myself employed as the part
time assistant manager for three months in a recycling company. The part time job was
helpful as it helped me in learning various skills. It has developed in me the strength of
managing the multiple tasks at a time and maintain good relation with the superior staff. After
my job, I left Romania and moved to UK to pursue my further education. Going to UK had
again contributed to various strengths as it has made me flexible in adjusting to the new
environment as it is highly essential quality to succeed in the managerial world. After two
years of extensive study, I was able to secure the fulltime job at Dragon net consulting which
is a recycling company except recycling, it has the job of selling its old items to new
consumers, I was also involved in securing the sell of the items in other a job of the sales
man. According to the dynamic personality test conducted by me, I found myself good at
languages, management of emergencies and creative skills (Kulczyk, 2016). I secured the
good score in these areas and was considered suitable for the positions of salesman
responsible for promoting sales of the products. As my dream role is of a business man then
these skills are not sufficient to help me become the competent businessman. According to
Comeau, it is important to have the good knowledge of languages to succeed in any kind of
profession as it gives an individual the opportunity to maintain and close deals (Comeau,
2015).
Besides these tests, I have also conducted the business test which were evident of that I lack
business knowledge to achieving my dream and other weak areas included lack of managerial
experiences. These strengths and weakness gave me the insight on the areas to improve upon
before securing the position of CEO of the own organization. With acquiring Knowledge of
one’s strengths and weaknesses, I decided to chart out development and action plan to turn
my dreams into reality. I focused on bringing great self- management tricks to manage things
in a better way. As I already secured the placement at the recycling company, I thought of
attending at least one management event in a week to acquire the good management
experience and understanding. Other than the objective of attending the good management
experience and understanding, I made resolution to build good networking with great
management personalities in business world. The networking can be built to ensure that

things go as planned. I have also decided to take on various freelance projects of various
industries as it is helpful in gaining a lot of experience. From the past last year, I have been
keeping up with my career plan activities by attending various seminars and workshops on
the topic.
Besides these skills, I believed that it is of high importance to secure the knowledge of the
companies or organization as it gives an extra edge on getting the dreams done into reality.
Before, securing the placement at the recycling company, I tried gathering knowledge as
much as I could regarding the company and its position, I would like to be in. I also designed
an attractive CV so that I can easily get selected in the organization of my choice. As of now,
I am looking forward to start my own business in my country Romania for that I am
researching a lot in the area of my business and about other business which are already into it.
Feelings-
Although I worked towards achieving my goals and objectives of employment, I felt that
there are other areas to be focused on that are communication skills. According to the
personality test conducted by me, I had the highest score in the areas of language and
effective communication. I am good at speaking various languages with ease. According to
Bowyer-Crane, an individual who is polyglot has the higher chances of having successful
career in future (Bowyer-Crane, 2017). I felt quite confident on knowing this fact and felt
like polishing my skills by conducting the practical interview through launchpad video
interview software. Initially, before using the software, I felt quite apprehensive of doing the
self-assessment test but I gathered courage to take it. After taking the interview test, I self-
evaluated my performance and got an average score. According to Bowden, for an individual
to ace an interview it is essential that he takes various mock interviews so that an individual
is successfully able to clear the final interview (Bowden, 2017).
On seeing the average score, I felt bad as I was highly confident of getting the high score in
the test but I did not lose hope and kept trying. In some of the famous articles, I read that
stated that to improve communication skills, it is essential to practice various presentations
such as elevator pitch and seminar presentation. In the past, I have joined the economic
society where I won the game with my team. In the game, we had to give the elevator pitch
where I gave it to describe the individual targets. I gave the good speech on it. Even as the
captain of my football team for the last two years, I gave various sports presentation that
contributed to my communication skills. These activities, I felt has contributed to my

communication skills making it more polished and enhanced. After getting selected as the
full-time employee in the recycling company, I felt confident and thought of taking my
communication skills to the next level. I decided to participate in various competitions, and
elevator pitch as it would have given me better way of tackling the affairs and polishing my
skills of communication (Rashid, 2015).
I always felt myself to be the good team worker as it was evident from my good number of
participations in the team collaborative activities at high school and companies. I even
managed other teams to win at various competitions as a determined and dedicated team
worker. Even during my part-time job at the recycling company, I learned various skills of
managing teams to initiate the change directed by the manager. These experiences have
developed in me the great understanding of managing the work in an effective manner so that
it helps me in my future career path and to realize my dream of starting my own business.
Evaluation-
As an individual planning to start a successful career, I had various good and bad experiences
on my way. These experiences have given various positive and negative insights of
management of various affairs (Kulczyk, 2016). There were many good experiences during
my education time, part time job and as the captain of the team. During my part time job
experience at the recycling firm, we were given with the task of managing the materials of
the reputed company with specific target. We had to work in the team and it was an urgent
task. As one of the team members of the team, I was given with the task of managing the
production of the waste materials into the recycled materials. I had to coordinate with the
production and the supply department in the effective manner. The target which was given to
me was to produce 50 recycled materials in 8 days. I was able to achieve the target by
coordinating effectively with the departmental heads and team members. My performance at
the job was revered and I was given with the certificate of being the great supporting team
member of the 8 days project. According to Borghuis, the great coordination skills in an
individual is helpful in achieving the objective and the goals of the teams (Borghuis, 2016).
The experience gave me confidence in my skills of working effectively in the team which I
later on used it in my CV. The other experiences I had that during high school time, we had
the business competition where we had to come with the innovative and creative business
plan in the area of cosmetic industry. In the business plan competition, I was awarded with
the with the highly creative and innovative presentation of the plan. This business plan was
