Personal definition of leadership
Referring to the various sources, I have learnt that perceptions about leadership has
changed over time. Perceptions about leadership is constructive, as theories and models acts
as an agent towards inducing new insights into leadership. Affirming the arguments of
Ginter, Duncan and Swayne, (2018), I have gained knowledge regarding the fact that there
are three phases around which the thoughts of leadership ventures. These are: Great Man,
Trait Theory and models, behavioural theories and models, situational or contingency
theories and models and organizational culture. I think that all of these theories and models
are directed towards altering the personality of the individuals, which is the primary condition
of becoming a leader. Within this process, Nica, (2015) places the focus on preserving the
culture, for emerging as a People’s leader by earning respect, loyalty and dependence.
Personal application based model of leadership
Synthesizing the models of leadership, I can conclude that my personal leadership
model would be based on transformational leadership theory.
Application of leadership theories to healthcare
organizations
In healthcare organizations, the main aspect is providing quality care, support and
treatment to the patients. Therefore, trait theory is most applicable in this context, as it is the
responsibility of the caregivers to assess the extent to which they have been successful in
catering to the health needs of the patients. Here, mention can also be made of the capabilities
of the supervisors regarding assessing the capability of the caregivers regarding fulfilling the
specific needs and requirements of the patients. Bercaw, (2017) is of the view that the
caregivers and healthcare professionals need to be trained about handling the cases in an
efficient and effective manner. In this context, cognitive theory can be applied, as they learn
about the basic means of medication through the training periods. If the caregivers intend to
