INTRODUCTION
Operation management refers to the procedure of administration which is used for
business practices to accomplish desired goals and objectives within the huge efficient manner in
terms of using firm resources. It mostly includes technology, machinery and labor, material that
manufacture effective qualitative goods and services will be fruitful for an organization.
Therefore, management and operation is essential concept used by firms to increase their
productivity. Additionally, this assignment is based on Innocent Drinks company which deals
with fresh juices and smoothies in so many different outlets like coffee shops, supermarket etc. It
was founded in 1998 By Richard Reed, Adam Balon and Jon Wright and it is headquartered in
London, U.K. Moreover, this assignment includes different functions and roles of manager and
leader along with operation and leadership management. At last, different functions played by
manager and leader and several factors of business environment that have impact on manager
and leader’s functions will get covered (Liu, Yang and Li, 2020).

P1 Comparison of characteristics and roles of manager and a leader
Organization’s background:
Innocent Drink is UK based industry which was developed in 1998 in London. In order to
produce such kind of business main reason is to offer fresh juices and smoothies to their
customers for satisfying them. From passing the time, this company known as best leader of
smoothies market as they sold their product within supermarkets, coffee shops and many other
places. Thus, customers can easily get their goods and services that increases their productivity
together with profitability in a proper manner. Moreover, now a day this organization sold its
product within European countries to achieve goals towards improving public’s health. Thus, this
firm working with government consultants to promote its product value in more places
(Ostroumov and Kuzmenko, 2020).
Management structure of firm:
Organizational or management structure of Innocent Drink Company was started with
entrepreneurial structure and now they turned into Hierarchical structure in order to satisfy every

consumer’s needs and wants so that they can make themselves more famous and able to earn
huge profit that generates high sales and revenue.
Leader:It is a person or an individual who motivates ample number of people as well as
group members among the achievement of desired goals and objectives. In the context of
Innocent Drink Company, leader’s plays crucial role through developing huge motivational
aspects for their team members to achieve desired results. Therefore, leaders are those who
manage entire work and employees in a perfect manner (Mutha, Dhatrak, Commvault Systems,
2020).
Roles of a leader:
Goal oriented:In this role, leaders have ability to achieve desired objectives within short
period of time. As per the given organization, leaders play goal oriented role towards developing
better communication method between each employees that leads organization in a better way.
Representative of organization:Leaders are considered as representative of firm, this role
directly affect working performance of employee’s in a positive manner. In relation with given
firm, leader’s plays role as representative in which they manage and create seminars, meetings,
conferences and so on. With the help of this they can manage entire performance of employees.
Characteristics of a leader:
Positive attitude:This type of characteristics makes leader different from others at
workplace. In relation with Innocent drink, leaders have polite behaviour that influences
employees positively.
Strong communicator: In this trait leaders have ability to communicate in a well manner.
As per the selected organization, leaders have strong communication power so that they can grab
attention of employees towards accomplish desired goals (Yasui, T., Kyocera Document
Solutions Inc, 2020).
Manager:It is a person who has responsibility of whole organization in regards with
managing and controlling each activity in a directive manner. In relation with Innocent Juice,
