INTRODUCTION
Operation management involves the utilization of resources such as materials,
equipments, and technology. It produce and deliver goods and services based on the needs and
wants of customers. Operation management helps in making various strategies that help in
determining the size manufacturing plants and project management. In this report respective
company uber technologies, uber is American company that offers vehicles for rent, online food
delivery, couriers etc. it is estimated that company has over 10 million monthly active users. In
UK uber has 66% of market shares in ride sharing, and 26% market shares in online food
delivery(Agrawal. Atasu and Van Wassenhove 2019). Uber does not provide transportation
services to the local public instead they have independent drivers connected with them. This
gives employment to drivers and provides transportation facility to the local public. This report
includes comparison between mangers and leaders and their characteristics, roles and functions
of manger and leaders company can apply in different situation, different theories and
approaches mangers and leaders can use in the organization. Furthermore, key approaches of
operation management and the role leaders and mangers play in an organization, importance of
operation management in an company and at last various factors that affect the environment of
an organization and its impact on operation management and decision making process of leaders
and managers.

P1: Define and compare the different roles and characteristics of a leader and a manager:
Mangers:
they are the individuals that ensure the daily functioning of activities and task complete
by the employees of an organization. Mangers are the medium of communication between the
staff and employer they communicate roles and responsibility of the individuals in the
organization. The main function of a manger in organization is organizing, planning, controlling,
and staffing. Mangers ensure that organization gain competitive advantages and achieve its
objectives. Below is the examination of roles and characteristics of mangers in uber
technologies( Babich. and Hilary. 2020).
Roles of manager:

Monitoring role of mangers: the main role of manger in uber technologies is
monitoring the information by scanning environment, staff, subordinates and
customers. Manger helps in receiving information from external and internal
environment so that company can understand its environment. This information could
also help the organization to gain competitive advantages in their organization.
Spokesman role of mangers: mangers often play the role of spoke person in
organization when they represent their organization to clients and subordinates. In uber
technologies mangers requires speaking about the ideas and tasking to staff members
and employees to the organization. They provide information about the growth of
employees and subordinates to the directors and shareholders of the company.
Entrepreneurial role of mangers: A manger in uber technologies is both innovator
and creator. They help to analyse new products and services that help in improvement
of organizational performance(Barnes. 2018).
Characteristics of mangers:
Communication: the main characteristics of manger, they are great communicator in
organization. Better communication between manger and other staff helps in building
trust between employees and the organization. It helps organization to develop employee
loyalty. Manger communicates ideas, information, task and new project in the
organization. Thus mangers of uber technologies should be great communicator.
Time management: A manger of uber technologies should know how to manage all the
tasks and projects on time. It could help the organization to improve effectiveness of their
firm and also motives their employee to complete given tasks on time. Thus, mangers
should have the ability to manage time and task.
Confident: To be effective manger in uber technologies, mangers needs to be confident
about their decision making, abilities and expressions. An confident manger can
motivates their employees to work hard and make their performance in organization
effective(Berenguer. and Shen. 2020).
Leaders:
these are the individuals of organization with the ability to influence others for the better
growth of the organization. A effective leader in organization make countless decisions in the
company that leads to the success of the firm. Leaders have the quality to motivates their
