INTRODUCTION Operation Management is consider as a part of business work that principally centresaround update or remade the business task and control the assembling procedure of products andadministrations in a deliberate and organized way (Introduction to Operations Management,2018). It guarantees that organization is using the assets in a proficient way and satisfying thenecessity of client adequately. It is fundamentally worried about changing the information orcrude material into yield or completed merchandise that further fulfils the distinctive needs andneeds of potential purchasers.The given report is based on Toyota Motor Corporation which isan Japanese leading automotive manufacturer. The reports covers different roles andcharacteristic of leader and manager, theories and models of leadership, key approaches tooperation management and its importance in context of achieving business goals and objectives. TASK 1 P1Manager: A manager is an individual who is mainly responsible for controlling andadministering overall business activities and operation of a firm in a systematic manner. Forsuccessful achievement of objectives, the role of manager in Toyota is to establish and developrelevant policies and strategies that aid in carrying out all task effectively. Each department ishaving its own manager who ensure who supervise all work conducted at respective level. Theyare also concern with performance appraisal of employees at regular interval of time. Followingare the characteristic of effective manager are discussed below: 1.Delegation: One of the most important characteristic of good manager is the ability todelegate. Their major goals is to have global vision and contribute significantly towardsbusiness operation and activities. They ensure delegating all tasks in an effective mannerespecially those that complex or bureaucratic in nature. 2.Time Management: Another key quality of successful manager is time management. Forexample: If manager is late for office then their workers might think that coming late isacceptable in office. That is why time management play crucial role in achieving businessgaols and objectives significantly (Parker, 2012). Leader: Leaders are the one who have the ability to influence other group of people. Basically, agood leader is the one who gets the work done from their followers concerning company goalsand objective. Leader play key role in motivating employees of Toyota through their

communication and leadership skill and inbuilt organizational vision in them so that they canwork or perform accordingly. Their main aim is to inspire and influence the followers so thatthey can work incredibly hard which ultimately results in increasing the productivity andefficiency of company (Qian, Burritt and Monroe, 2011). Some of the common characteristic ofa good leader are listed below: 11Strong Communication: One of the top attribute of a good leader is that he/she must beeffective communicator. Irrespective of the fact that one may have clear vision but unableto convey it properly among its colleagues or followers then it is almost impossible toachieve it. By developing the ability of describing all roles and responsibilities in a clearmanner i.e. telling them specifically that what you as a leader want and related with team.This will result in joining collective efforts of followers. 11Passion & Commitment: If a leader is passionate or committed towards its work then itwill get others excited as they can see and feel how dedicatedly their leader are workingtowards achieving company goals and objectives. Difference between manager and leader Manager LeaderManagerexercisedifferentmanagement function in order to attaingroup goals.To become a successful manager,onehas to become good leader first. They are known for formulating bestpossible solution for the given problem.Manager believes in doing things right Leader play the role of influencing theirfollowers so that they can workincredibly hard to achieve businessobjectives. For becoming good leader it is notnecessary to be a manager. They are known for inspiring andmotivating employees. Leaders in believes in doing rightthings.
