INTRODUCTIONManagement and leadership is referred as most essential sections for every business firm. Itallows to ensure that key operations are being managed properly. Management helps in focusingtowards collaboration and integration of decisions to meet the key requirement. On the otherside, leadership focuses on coordination and motivation of members so that operational standardscan be accomplished in desired manner. Manager are considered as person who is accountable tohave control and administration over diverse group activities within organization. On the otherhand, leader is referred as individual within firm who leads a specific group of team. Managerrole is to have proper coordination with different teams and ensure that key objectives are beingaccomplished. Moreover, leaders focuses on action which need to be employed as per directionsof manager so that goals can be achieved. Leadersdo this by influencing employee behaviours inseveral ways. However, manager focuses on integration of different functions withindepartments for better application of standards and framework. TASK 1Characteristics/qualities and roles of a managerIt has been witnessed that there are diverse characteristics that a manager must have inorder to advance the performance. Self-motivation is one of critical characteristic which canallow company to attain diverse values so that goals and objectives can be accomplished. Ifperson is self-motivated then it impacts the overall performance in positive manner because itallows to improve the standards within environment. Integrity is considered as people trust whichallows to gain better coordination within organisation (Sherali, 2011). It means using integrationof activities the manager can develop better activities. It allows to ensure that process is beingadvanced using diverse values. It is also necessary for manager to focus on confidence andflexibility so that operational values can be attained in desired manner. It allows to improve theperformance so that goals and objectives can be accomplished. Characteristics/qualities and roles of a leaderIn addition to this, it can be said that there are number of characteristics that a leader musthave in order to accomplish key goals and objectives. It is necessary for leader to have honestyand integrity. It means proper support and values must be offered by leader in context tofollowers and management (Beer and Rossouw, 2012). It is necessary to build trust so thatmembers feel valued in sharing information with leader. It has been witnessed that confidence is

another characteristics which allows to ensure that members are well motivated. By having apromotion of motivation it can be make sure that performance and level of commitment has beenadvanced. It is necessary for leader to inspire others so that sustainable values can be promoted.Moreover, commitment and passion are also key factors which assist in continuous development.It is also significant to have good communication skills so that key outcome can be attained(Burke, 2013).
