Task 1
Introduction
In the field of retail industry Marks & Spencer has put an effective impact in the minds of people
of UK. It can be said that the products and the servitude they provide are best among the other
retail markets. The business is global and therefore everybody recognize the company. There are
near about eighty two thousand employees in the company who are giving their servitude in
every single branch of the company. Only in the states of UK there are 852 employees which tell
about the reputation of the company only in UK. There are different categories of the
management team where the Managing Director of the company is sitting at the top. Under the
surveillance of MD there are HRs, finance head and procurement head who control the main part
of the business. It is very effective for M&S that the company uses individual branch heads for
each branch.
Role of leaders and managers and their differences
The roles of a leaders and a manager inside the organization are more than what words can say.
It means that the organizational structure and environment are totally dependent on the leaders
and the managers of the company.
Leaders: The leaders are the one who have the capability to lead the employee or the workers of
the organization. In this scenario it can be said that the proper motivation and the proper
guidance can be given by the leaders of an organization only. There can be situations where the
employees may not feel safe to continue their work. That is the place where the leaders of the

company come into play. They grab the situation with ease and then help the employees to
complete the task by showing them the right path.
Managers
The managers of the company also play vital role in terms of achieving the success in the
company. The leaders are the one who help the employees to complete a particular task but the
managers create opportunity to develop the company in the best of ways. They create the goals
for the employees and deal with the results. The development and the management department
are mainly handled by the managers in the most efficient manner.
It is obvious that the leaders and the managers of the company play vital roles in order to develop
the environment and the reputation of the company. But there are many differences in their roles.
The different roles of the managers and the employees are given below,
The managers mainly bring the change in the organization but the leaders work hard in
order to bring the change in the organization. It is justified that the leaders mainly works
based on the targets and goals that are set by the managers of the company. Managers
mainly deal with the results but the leaders deal with the process of work.
Managers have employees whereas the leaders have followers. It means that the manager
of a particular organization can only distribute the job among the employees but the
leaders will grab the situation and make the employees to follow the trail that is left by
the leaders. It means the leaders have employees in terms of followers.
The manager can only provide the ideas to the employees whereas the leaders can
implement the idea inside the organization. It can be said that the leaders of the
