INTRODUCTIONManagement and operation is to administer the business practices that makes theorganisation efficient at the highest level to the extent it is possible in an organisation. It isassociated by converting the materials as well as labour into the goods and services to maximisethe profit of an organisation. Tesco is the leading brand in the retail sector and having the top position in this industryhaving the presence in more than 11 countries and it is expanded globally since 1990. As theHuman Resource Officer at Tesco, the author on the report will look into the impact of leadersand managers on the operations in the company. This report explains the definition of leader andmanager and their different role in the organisation. This report contains the importance andvalue of the operation management in achieving the objectives of the business. It will beconsidered ongoing changes in the business environment and their influence to differentsituations in Tesco.The role of a leader and the function of a manager at TescoTesco was founded by Jack Cohen in 1919 in the East End of London. As a leadingretailer, with 450 000 colleagues, the brand serve millions of customers in stores and online. Thecurrent CEO of the company is Dave Lewis. The core purpose of the company is “servingshoppers a little better every day”, so main goal of Tesco is to ensure the customers satisfactionis a little better on each visit (Longoni and Cagliano, 2015 ).Leaderof Tesco is having the art to motivate the group of people for attaining the desiredgoal that is being set by the management. It may include to directing the workers and colleaguesby making the strategy to meet the goals of company. Leader is the person who is full ofinspiration and direct the employees of the company and at the same he is the person who set theexample for everyone in the company (Jagoda and Kiridena, 2015)Manager is the person who is responsible for the controlling and at the sameadministering the particular department or any part of the company. It is an individual who is incharge for the certain task or group or for the particular subset of the company. In Tesco everydepartment is having the particular line manager and perform their duties according to thedepartment functions.
