Roles of Managers and Leaders_2
INTRODUCTION
Management refers to an organisational practice, which includes planning, organising,
directing as well as controlling all the functioning within an organisation. Operations, on the
other hand, are all the activities performed within a company that allows the firm to achieve its
organisational objectives (Tristancho and Gutiérrez, 2012). Furthermore, both these factors are
quite important for an organisation in order to effectively gain a better position within the
marketplace. The report below is based on Aldi, which is a supermarket chain operating in UK.
It covers in detail the definition of roles of both managers and leaders and analysis of roles of
management and leadership regarding various organisational situations. It also covers evaluation
of strengths and weaknesses of various approaches to leadership and management to draw
effective conclusions supporting theories of leadership. Furthermore, the report also includes key
operational functions of an organisation and roles and responsibilities of managers within the
same. It also involves impact of external business environment on decision-making of leaders
and managers and ways to improve operational efficiencies.
