there is a improved experience of the customers. The competition in the industry is increasing
but there have to be transformation which is must. Nevis range mountain resort is having a lot of
services and activities which the resort is providing the customers. The report consists of
functions, demands, management in a resort. To have a sustainable economic factor is also
important which would be discussed in the further report.
MAIN BODY
LO 1
Different types of resorts, key features and issues or challenges identified
In the hospitality industry, there are a variety of the different types of resorts that are included in
the type of resorts and their key features according to their types can be illustrated in following
manner:
Vacation Resorts: Vacation resort is a place where the traveler or tourist is able to visit exotic
places that are away from their home and they exploit different services such as lodging,
restaurants, shopping, food and drinks, entertainment etc. There are many resorts which even
specialise in their own field of activities (Bastaman, 2018). The challenges might arise in the
multiple services that are being given to the visitors and the mis- management might arise.
Golf and Beach Resorts: Golf Resorts have specially developed grounds and fields that are
excellent choices for golf lovers. Usually tourists or visitors only come to play and not for stay
purposes. The beach resorts on the other hands are the ones where the resorts either have their
own private beaches or are located near the beach so that their visitors can take special
advantage. The major challenge or issue for these resorts is that the customer attraction for these
resorts are comparatively limited and lower as their preferences keep changing.
Island and Lake Resorts: An island resort is the one which is located on a separate island where
the tourists can go as a getaway and the lake resorts are basically located around the lake. The
major challenge that can arise in the island resort is that in situation of crisis, the management of
resort might find it difficult to manage (Bristow and Jenkins, 2018). For lake resorts, the major
challenge is the unpredictable sea level.

Mountain and Ski Resorts: The mountain and ski resorts are usually located in the mountain
areas where the skiing is the major point of attraction in ski resorts and the mountain resorts offer
scenic and natural beauty which can be utilised by the different tourists and travellers. The major
challenge arises in the form of changing weather conditions and the impact that climate change
can have over the overall operations.
Variations in operational requirements of specialist areas and the potential issues
The different types of resorts have different operational requirements in order to operate in their
area of specialisation. These can be illustrated in following manner:
The ski resorts can be considered as the one where the main operational requirement is to ensure
that the overall working goes on uninterrupted and the excessive snow does not cause any
inconvenience. The use of avalanches to control excessive snowfall etc. can also be suggested
(Jones and Phillips, 2017). The staff requirement regarding the snow blockage that might be
caused is persistent so that any blockages are not caused.
The operational requirements in the vacation resorts mainly require increased interrelation and
completion of different management related tasks because there are number of activities that are
completed and hence the requirement of the staff accordingly is also necessary.
The operational requirements of island and lake resorts mainly require the protection equipment
from the increase in the sea level that can rise potentially and the weather forecasts and measures
also need to be ascertained as accurate as possible.
The requirements for golf and beach resorts pertain to the improved strategies that can be
adopted in order to target more customers and also improve the overall marketing strategies and
promotional strategies (Ismail and Hasbollah, 2017). The overall operational requirements are
different for different types of resort types.
Identification of different operational requirements and the management strategies
The different management strategies which can be adopted in order to improve the overall
operational requirements and efficiencies can be improved by developing a comprehensive work
force that is skilled in the different tasks that they have to perform and the promotional offers can
also be used. These will help in addressing the overall issues that have been identified.
Critical evaluation of the potential challenges and the solutions developed
The challenges are of a greater extent and of a more serious nature in island and lake resorts
because access to help is significantly weak and impromptu which is not the case in context of

the vacation resorts as here development and implementation of the solutions for the challenges
that have been identified is comparatively much more simplified (Slocum and Kline, 2017).
LO 2
Different types of resort packages fulfilling different objectives
The packages for different types of resort can be analysed and implemented in following manner
and in following contexts:
For instance, the Nevis Range Mountain Resort is a skiing resort that is based mainly in the
Nevis Range of mountains where the emphasis is mainly on the snow sports, natural views,
mountain adventures and skiing festivals. This resort gives a bundle based package where the
customers who have chosen staying in their hotel are given exclusive services that can be
accessed by them as an additional treat (Huo, 2017). However, these will be on a limited chance
basis i.e. charging $10 after first free ride etc.
Similarly, Pine Lake resort is the lake resort that is based in Carnforth UK and here the resort
package is activity based i.e. there is separate charge for lodging and food and only some basic
facilities are free. Remaining all of the activities are charged on a fixed rate basis where every
time tourists accesses any services, they are charged a fixed amount (Wall-Reinius, Ioannides
and Zampoukos, 2019).
Similarly, different resorts have different packages i.e. the golf resorts are most likely to have
membership packages which is the case for Gleneagles as well and the vacations resorts such as
Hilton or Marriott Hotel have the comprehensive number of days and nights packages for their
resorts which includes all the details.
Critical evaluation of business implications
The different resort packages that have been developed help in the analysis of the overall
achievement of the different sales objectives that have been developed and the implementation of
the better strategies is also made possible. Overall the marketing and promotional strategies also
improve of the resort and helps in increasing the revenue generation which is the ultimate goal of
the organisation (Semenov and et.al., 2018). The increased facilities and entertainment and
recreational services that are given to different customers improve their overall satisfaction as
well.
Document Page
Justification of the range of resort packages
The different tactics that are used in the development of resort packages are justified because
these are the ones where the overall different sources of revenue generation are analysed and
integrated in the business (Viken and Granås, 2016). The tactics help in evaluating how the
different resort packages help in the identification of the key activities which can be used for
increased revenue generation. This increases the preference and demand for the improved
services as well in the organisation.
