INTRODUCTION
The management information system is used during decision making process and for the
control, analysis, coordination and visualization of an information within the organisation. Study
of management information system include process, technology and people in organisation
context. It is a computer system that consist of software and hardware that serves a backbone of
the organisation. It define various functional activities including an interpersonal bonding
(Azgomi and Sohrabi, 2018). The firm chosen in this study is Walmart which is an international
company and it is establish during 1962. it deals with a large variety of product and services to its
customers in the form of hypermarket, convenience shop supermarket and many other. This report
will cover several business units of Walmart, data structure of warehousing with code of conduct
which are related to legislations, the us of GDPR data protection for ethical and the professional
implications.
Different interconnected organisational units and their dependence within Walmart
The respective company that is Walmart is consider as a global organisation, it offer its
product and services at global level through superstores, supermarket, hypermarket and other
convenience shops. This company spread its business 10566 outlets through out the global and it
has more than the annual net income of around $13.70 billion. Walmart attain its heights with their
collaborative efforts of approximately 2300000 employees in their outlets and head office. It has
different business units that are mentioned below:
 Walmart international- The respective company has many stores that are exist into 27
countries and also has other store's formate such as retail, wholesale and many more. It
contain mainly three categories including wholesale, retail and other consisting
hypermarket, supermarket and super centres. All these stores are operating by joint venture
and wholly owned subsidiaries. Their all stores support a digital access by facilitating
home delivery in Mexico and the Click and Collect in U.K ( Brundin-Mather and et. al.,
2018).
 Walmart U.S.- It is considered as a biggest dividing of the Walmart because it mange its
ll store within 50 states of U.S., Washington D.C. And Puerto Rico. This unit of company
control different aspect of the individuals daily requirements such as health, hard lines,

grocery, entertainment and many more. Along with its financial services, the company
also offer money orders, bill payment, prepaid card and wire transfers. This company also
deal in licensed and private label merchandise. They provide some physical access to their
customer in term of super centres, the discount stores and other store formate (Loideain,
2019).
 Sam's Club- This business unit of respective company operate its business in
approximately 44 states within U.S and Puerto Rico. It focus on the membership of only
warehouse clubs. It provide the subscription services to their customer and business
owners. The digital access element in this division support to their physical clubs and its
members which help of the utility that is called “Club Pickup.” this unit also offer the
merchandise to the category of Grocery and consumable that include fuel, diary and some
other categories conation gasoline, wellness, tools and tobacco etc.
 Walmart Discount Store- These are classified as discount stores that provide limited
groceries and the general merchandise products, garden centre, lube and tire, optical store
and other etc. though of the discount store is emerged form surpassing of the super centres.
The company's first discount store was opened during 1990 in Bentonville. At this time the
Walmart has most of discount store around 1995, but in 2021 it lasts to only 371
( Giebler and et. al., 2019).
 Walmart Neighbourhood market- The store of Walmart is a chain of small grocery
stores. Its operations start after the 10 years from day of the super centre. Walmart
neighbourhood mainly focus on three class including grocery, fuel and pharmacy stores.
The respective company's grocery part generate nearly 55% revenue for the organisation.
Main motive of these market is to bridge a gap between their own discount stores and
super centres. Currently, it has 683 stores and each store us used in order to operate the 90-
95 full time as well as a part time staff.
 Technology- This business unit is very essential in every sector. The significance of this
unit can not be neglect from the company's digital transaction, operation and technological
advancement of different analytical tools. The Walamrt is a international supermarket and
operating their business by using high level machines or technology especially in its
supply chain procedure for proper utilization and better functioning of their resources. The
respective company operate its global business by using indulging technology.

 Walmart Super centres- It is one of the different department of respective company.
these super centres of the company consist tire lube express, pharmacy, vision centre along
with the general merchandise, grocery section and other etc. these are owned by the
Walmart itself. Its super centre are operating in 49 out of the 50s states in U.S and dome
other major cities. These stores are used sell more that its 120000 products during online
stores sell more that around 35 million products (Greze, 2019).
Different forms of data & the role or responsibility of data warehousing in Walmart
Generally, the Walmart is American multinational company which deal in retail sector, it
operate the chain of hypermarkets. It is founded by Sam Walton during 1962 and headquarter is
situated in Bentonville, Arkansa. This company is popular for providing different product and
services based on its divisional structure as it is world's biggest company by its revenue. This
organisation follow various divisional structure that considered as a significant aspect for the
business operation. By adopting these different structure, the company is become able to facilitate
their growth and also interconnect them with one another. All division execute the business
function effectively together (Gupta, Altay and Luo, 2019). Walamrt also adopt different
infrastructure including technical innovation, application of an information system software. By
using latest technology the company is able to perform its operational activities in a better way.
All task are interconnected through digital platform that allow a smoothly process in transforming
the information system form one unit to other department. All different stores at several location
are able deal all services ans its communication process become more convenient by the
technology. These technology platform make enable a business to easily maintain its data
warehousing of all stores. The Walamrt act on different function in an effective manner by
determining each source of technology that can be utilised within the organisation. In context of
Walmrt, it uses different information system that are mentioned here,
 Executive support system (ESS)- This technical software is designed to provide external
and internal information to the manager of respective company. It is helpful for them to
take correct decision and also complete other managerial responsibilities that depend on
outside information which are relate to the customers, stakeholders, competitors and many
more. Walamrt follow this information system to have information of assets and inventory

that the company has in present situation. It is highly depend on current sale and the
financial data of organisation. The Executive support system is very important for an
organisation to maintain data collection (Hintze, 2018).
 Decision support system(DSS)- This system is used by the organisation to take any
decision in a difficult situation. DSS analyse and determine resource of the information
technology to have an accurate collection of data to work effectively in an organisation.
With the motive of getting a perspective outcome, it cover the spread sheet data as well as
the data base in every possible outcome. Walmart choose this structure to project an
information as well as make enable the company's manger to handle any complex
situations. By using this technology the manger can resolve issues within the organisation.
Hence, the above mentioned system are very essential in an organisation in decision making
process and very effective for the retail sector to take any decision. Thus, these structure make
enable the company's performance and impact on the potential of manager. Walamrt depict their
efficiency by using these function as it help them to improve area to overcome with the certain
abilities of department in an organisation. The respective company use technological innovation
for profitable business through the use of technical information software as well s the hardware
which provide a new experience to their customers into digital or technological transformation of
tools. It has various advantages to maximise organisational probability ( Hong and et. al., 2018).

The Walamrt is grown very rapidly from the past five decades as it is billion dollar retail
company. It incorporate several information system into data to day operational activity. This
company is well known for their innovation as it adopt latest technology and the information
system in order to maximise its probability. It also has implemented the radio frequency
identification (RFID). The company use this technology as it allow them to function smoothly and
help them in receiving or sending the real time data to networks in organisation. This information
system also help the producer, manufacturer, supplier and the other logistic department to share
information related to the inventory and product's delivery.
Recommendation

By understanding and specialising the knowledge of business activities is associated with
information system and will give a better customer satisfaction. Walmart can adopt various
information system such as KMS, ESS and DSS that are highly significant as it provide accurate
information that are given to the organisation. It lead the company to gain high level of growth
effectively. Walmart need to consider different strategic aspects that are quantitative and
qualitative process. It should focus on the company's objective and how to use the big data
analytics technology to attain these goals. They need to create and update disclosure practices and
polices. It is highly recommend to the company that they should understand the technology's
generic pattern that can be implemented to address the specific organisational gaols and use of
cases.
The technology strategy to enable big data strategy
For a business organisation, the big data strategy is advised as an essential technology
strategy. It allow the company to gather those information which are very useful for the economy
and company's manager (Masri and Jaaron, 2017).
In context of Walmart, it has a large amount of the data that can be utilise for company's growth
strategy and enable to develop and innovate their process. This company has an expert as they can
identifies the collected data in simple form. By using this technology, the organisation can
determine several opportunities to develop and expand its services and product.
Advantages and disadvantages of the information system
The information system in an organisation conation various merits and demits that are

to its customers and for delivering process. This system provide best assessment about
what will happen in future. By this, a company feel more confident as they are make a best
possible business decision. By using this technology, the company gain benefits to develop
its new strategies and also determine market trend.
 Disadvantage- There is the security issue with information system as these software are
very complicated and has a risk of hacker. They can misuse the important data and
information within an organisation. It can utilise for the manipulation of client's record.

arrange a strong privacy in term of the data as it contain essential information related to the

other organisations. The company's sustainability efforts mainly focus to prioritize the
planet and peoples with the motive of sell their sustainable products, responsible source,
protect and also restore its natural resources to reduce emission. They treat peoples
respectfully by putting its customers first because they strive for the excellence by
working with integrity. Their values are its legacy and these shaped this company for than

around half century. Today, the Walamrt seek as most trusted retailer because they are
very committed for doing their business effectively rather than other retailers. They also
satisfy its customers by serve good or service and fulfil the government's requirement.
Thus, for the respective company, it is significant to follow the ethics at workplace. It will
give benefits and competitive advantage by working with ethics (Tambou, 2019).
 Legal- GDPR 2016/679 is presented in Europe laws as it is helpful to address that
information which can be used in delivering and operating outside EEA and EU. GDPR
contain several right for the individual such as right of access, right to be informed, right to
rectification, right to restrict processing, right to erasure and right to automated decision
making . In context of Walamrt, such practise can take place without client's prior
permission s the company needs the permission of its clients to share their personal
information. The illegal practise in the organisation can create difficulties of them with the
negative impacts. In Walamrt, they do not sell or rent personal information related to the
clients in case when the business is sold or merged. It can share client's information with
the organisation that offer them a co- branded product or services for instance its co-
branded credit card. In respect of the California law, the company can share personal
information to these parties, exclude for biometric information, the government
information and criminal background information. It is very easy to finish the given project
by following all these regulations. Now tit is advantageous for the company to work
legally. The company's confidential information need to be secure and safe so it is
essential to follow up these kind of the laws (Wang, Sun and Chen, 2019).
 Professional- It is a set of the behaviour and competencies which describe professionalism
for organisational health care as the administration need to behave professionally.
Walmart keep maintain their professionalism as this company never share its client's
personal information to anyone. It is very important for an organisation or workers to
maintain the confidentiality and do not leak any information because the clients trust them
and share their personal information with company on the basis of trust. Walamrt work by
maintaining integrity and relation with its clients which create a trust between them and
build a reputed bran image within the market. A company working with professionalism
by following rules and regulation means it adhering to privacy, confidentiality, integrity
and a transparent concepts of information security. The success of a company is based on

its professionalism as it make a strong reputation of organisation a lead high level of work
ethics with an excellence. There fore, for employees, it is desirable to follow up rule and
regulation by maintaining professionalism while they are working in a company (Won,
and Cheng, 2017).

From this report it is find out that, different business unit an organisation are interrelated
with each other. The financial institute obtain benefits as it help to improve its financial perform
within organisation. The big data play an important role to operate the company's different
activities. This data has its own benefits and limitation in respect of the given company. The data
warehousing is crucial in functioning of an organisation as it gather all essential information and it
need to be kept the information very confidential to gain trust of company's clients. The GDPR is
a data protection law which is a critical piece of regulation. In an organisation, it is an essential
step in order to protect data and introduce the potential regulatory bodies. This law contain the
company's professionalism and ethics to protect personal information of clients and accomplish
business operation activities effectively by avoiding any misuse with client's data. So, the
organisation must be careful relate to the customer personal data in order to operate their functions
effectively and efficiently.
