1MANAGEMENT Theshort term goalrepresents the things that I would like to do in near future in a matter of 3 to 5 years. My shortterm goal isin pursuing anMBA which will help me in changingmy fieldof work and get into consulting. Presently, I work in the field of Food Science. I have gathered close to 7.5 years of experience as technical service and research and development specialist in Saputo Cheese USA Inc where I have also played the role of quality assurance supervisor for a year. Professionally I have also been part of the Dairy Science Department where I have worked as graduate research assistant for two years. Prior to that, I have served as an Engineer for Tetra Pak Ltd for a very short period of two months. My present job profile allows me to visit different factories and provide help in the issues related to problem solving. With a curious mind and the constant quench for learning more I feel pigeon holed which enforced me to go for a career change in consulting. Besides, a career change will also help me in getting into a field where I would be able to find suitable position similar to my wife who just completed her masters in computer engineering. Pursuing a course in MBA will enable me in pursuing the goals by gaining additional skills and networking. Long term goalsrefer to the things that I would take a long term to accomplish. My long term goals have been working in the management levels of the consulting firms in a matterof10yearsfromnow.However,Ihavealreadybeenmastersinthedairy manufacturing from the South Dakota State University and had acquired a bachelor’s degree in dairy technology from the National Dairy Research Institute, India. I have also been awarded the gold medal for securing the First place in undergraduate program and have also received the highest scholarships for close to 3 years at NDRI, India. I have also done couple of internships. I have been a trainee in the Model Dairy Plant, India for a year, been a project trainee in GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Ltd, India and a two months summer intern
2MANAGEMENT Nestle, India. As far as my skills are concerned, I not only possess good leadership abilities but also good communication skills. The short term and long termgoals can be metonly by pursuing an MBA. The skills requiredforaconsultingjobincludegoodcommunicationskills,timemanagement, judgement, roles and responsibilities and good listening skills. A master degree in the business administration will help me in having a better grasp of the aspects that are critical to a consulting job. This is because the curriculum for MBA is primarily designed for teaching the baseline skills required for succeeding as consultant. This is theappropriate time for undertaking the programsince I feel that my work experience would help me better performs in the field of consulting. Besides, my wife has been studying and we could not have afforded school at the same time. Now that she has completed her masters so it seems to be the right time in pursuing the course.
