Introduction:
The significance of the effective interpersonal communication in the modern
generation is seen to increase in a notable manner. The impact of effective interpersonal skills
in the personal and professional relationships is notably prominent. Berger (2014)
commented that the establishment of the effective communication amongst the employees of
the organizations is seen to be the top most priority for the managers. Berger (2014) further
added that the inappropriate communication amongst the organizations has the potential to
affect the performances of the organizations and that is pretty evident with the impact of the
destructive conflicts amongst the employees. Danziger (2013) highlighted an important fact
regarding the effective communication with the claim that the top most priority for the
managers in modern business context is seen to be the allocation of the roles and
responsibilities for the employees inside the organizations and under such situation, the
effective communication enables the managers of the organizations to achieve the required
level of transparency in the formation of the roles and responsibilities of the employees.
Other than this, Arnold and Boggs (2019) portrayed the significance of the interpersonal
communication with the claim that the establishment of the effective communication enables
the individuals to have a better coordination amongst each other in personal and professional
life. The paper includes a letter of advice to a group of employees. The letter of advice
includes significant elaboration reading the principles and barriers of effective interpersonal
communication and along with that, the paper assesses the role of communication in the
development of one’s self image and self- esteem. In addition to this, the paper provides
important information regarding the various levels of emotional intelligence and self-
disclosure in the various relationships. The paper identifies the techniques that can be used
for the effective management of the interpersonal conflicts in the organizational context and

modern business context is subjected to increasing significance and that influences us to have
the idea of the principles of the effective interpersonal communication and the barriers that
affect the effective interpersonal communication. The idea of the barriers will be crucial for
us in formulating the plans or techniques that will be able to place us in the perfect position in
overcoming the barriers.

Principles of effective interpersonal communications:
There are various principles that promote the effective interpersonal communication,
however, the much required principles that establish the base of effective interpersonal
communication are seen to be responsible behaviour during communicating with the other
individuals, acknowledging the view of one regarding a particular situation as one of the
multiple views, respecting other’s opinions while putting forward own ideas as well along
with the practice of a competent communicator. With a precise focus on the practice of the
effective interpersonal communications in the organizations, it is evident that the individuals
are required to consider the different views and the opinions of the others with precise
concentration as that builds the perfect environment for the effective interpersonal
communication. Lane (2016) commented that the portrayal of the respect towards the
comments of other individuals creates the building blocks for the respect or the consideration
that one will achieve for their comments from those other individuals.

Barriers to the effective interpersonal communication:
The barriers that have the potential to affect the effective interpersonal
communication amongst us will be the inappropriate physical environment of the workplaces,
the perceptual barriers, the variation in the emotions of us, the differences in the culture and
the social beliefs, the differences in the language along with the gender barriers. Other than
this, you guys can be affected with the apathy of the other individuals in hearing your
thoughts or due to the lack of motivation for communication.
The principles are important for the establishment of the effective interpersonal
communication as that provides necessary information to you guys regarding the appropriate
behaviour that each of you should have for contributing to the effective interpersonal
communication. Other than this, the importance of the principles is pretty significant as it
provides you the necessity of considering the other’s opinion in building an effective
interpersonal communication.
Some of the techniques that you guys can undertake in managing these barriers will be:
Participating in the cultural events of other individuals to reduce the cultural
differences that you have.
Participating in the various language courses for learning the other languages which
will reduce the language barriers.
Participating in the employee engagement activities for reducing the impact of the
physical barriers, gender barriers and the interpersonal barriers.
Role of communication in the development of one’s self image and self- esteem:
The definition of the self- concept states it to be a collection of the beliefs one has for
himself or herself.
