According to Melé, (2003), etymological origin of the concept of humanism lies in
‘humanitus’, which catered to the common needs and fulfilment through the means of virtue.
20th century was the era when humanistic management was initiated with the aim on
motivation. Modifications to this concept was made in the 80s, which aimed towards
organizational culture. This modification created a heavy impact on culture and its
application into behaviour and decision making. An emergent approach to the concept is that
of the personalization of business enterprise. Melé, (2003) is of the view that this
personalization supported the promotion of unity through the preference of virtues and ethics.
In the present business context, management of the human virtues is a challenge in terms of
enhancing the individualism through the preservation of culture.
Opinion on course related terminology
I think the inclusion of Christian social teaching in the article enhances the
awareness of the religious issues governing the social constructs in the postmodern age.
According to my opinions, humanizing business is an initiative towards simplifying the
fundamental business mechanisms for providing a better understanding to the public domain.
I feel that humanistic management is needed in the present business context for developing
crucial strategies on the ways and means of preserving the cultural context. According to my
opinions, virtue ethics is an essential concepts, which needs to be included in the strategic
management of the businesses for controlling the workplace behaviour. Considering the
arguments of Melé, (2003), I also feel that organizational culture is a vital concept, which
determines the brand loyalty. My viewpoints supports scientific management theories, which
occupy an important position in enhancing the corporate governance of the businesses.
