Introduction
Considering the report, it has been aimed at preparing a report for implementing a
business idea to resolve the issues associated with the poor management of innovation at
Nationwide Transport Services located in Australia. The company has been one of the major
trucking companies in Australia that has managed to deliver proper transportation and
trucking services for catering the needs of people and managing stocks and supply chains
properly as well. The members are shipped all across the different branches in Australia,
United States of America along with Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, etc. to expand its business
operations and processes, furthermore generate higher revenue and aiming to achieve
competitive advantage in business too (Nationwidetransportservices.com.au, 2019). The
vehicles’ transportation has not only created convenience for the clients, but also has helped
in delivering door to door services considering the fact that there is no need to wait and the
carrier shall pick up and drop off at the concerned location without any need to wait at the
terminal or station hub. The assignment is focused on the identification of issue associated
with the higher cost of fuel and increased cost incurred while managing the business
operations to promote innovation through the implementation of technologies. The level of
pollution has increased with the trucking and transportation services and there is need to
manage sustainable practices for reducing the harmful environment impact as well as make
the community a better and healthy place for people to live in (Burns & Dewhurst, 2016).
The report will examine the new business revolving around the use of Global
positioning system or GPS integrated with new technologies such as ELDs for monitoring the
location of vehicles and manage greater communication among the business and its clients
with the maintenance of a secured web based platform. This has been aimed at reducing the
lack of communication problems hindering production, poor security and higher labour costs

too. The business idea also prioritises on evolvement through generation of new business idea
where the self-driving vehicles are to be used for reducing environmental impact and control
increased fuel cost and consumption too.
Problem and need analysis
From the analysis of issues, it is understood that the business category where
innovation is lacking has been the utilisation of GPS fleet tracking system, telematics,
platooning technology and ELDs. Due to this, there has been poor communication, lack of
ability to monitor the location of vehicles and the labour costs are higher along with the
cost of fuel has increased, which further lead to increased expenditures for the management
of business operations and processes. The use of vehicles that were unauthorised further
contributed to lack of security and caused issues hindering the level of safety during
transportation as well (Mollick, 2013). The analysis of needs shows that the business idea
prioritises on the use of GPS technology and ELDs integrated with platooning
technology to resolve these issues. To reduce the fuel consumption and manage reduced
costs of fuel, the business idea also focuses on the management of self-driving cars required
to decrease the issues associated with the rising cost of fuel and at the same time, focus on
creating a healthy and safe environment by reducing pollution level too.
The clients expect good quality services related to trucking and transportation
activities for delivering things from one place to another in bulk at reasonable prices and so
the business needs to make sure to properly take care of the needs and requirements. It is also
important to manage sustainable practices for the purpose of creating lesser pollution and
keep the environment safe and healthy, furthermore allow the customers to gain positive
mind sets about the company, thus leading to better sales through influence of consumer
buying behaviours too (Cumming & Li 2013).
