1 Short case of Pixar
(a) Need motivation theory
There are few basic needs of a human and the needs of human is never ending and this
can be best explained by Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The model can explain this theory in five
steps and those are physiological, safety, love/ belonging, esteem and self-actualization. Through
this case study we can analysis that the company is giving the employees all the facilities which
are required by them (Daft and Marcic, 2016). Maslow's hierarchy of needs is very important
from Pixar if they want the staff to make the film making process. The team is handwork
therefore the films of this company has got awards and the biggest award which is Oscar
Academy award. The basic need which are water, shelter, clothes, etc are being fulfilled by the
company which are the physiological needs, then comes the safety needs and the company is
providing those needs too of the employees who are in the campus and that is a very good
measure taken by the company. After that comes love and belonging which is that the employees
who are working in the picture are very friendly, loving and this gets a positive atmosphere in the
campus of Pixar. Self- esteem is that the company has won so many awards by now even though
they are not working for innovations but are just conveying there story to the world, it is because
of the awards the company has got have given the employees in the campus a status and are
fulfilling their ego needs. Self-actualization is the different facilities which are being provided by
the company so that they can make the employees satisfied and fit to make more films and get
innovative ideas. The company has a lot of new ideas because they have provided the people on
the campus with educational opportunities which is a great initiative by Pixar. When the basic
needs of the employees are fulfilled then the company will be able to improve and get innovative
ideas so that the company can grow even more. There are loyal employees in Pixar because by

saying in this company they are gaining everything they need and human are satisfied if their
needs are fulfilled (Bryson, 2017).
(b) Process motivation theory
To understand the process motivation theory we can use the Vroom expectancy theory
because that is the what is being used in the campus of Pixar. Motivational force=
Instrumentality x Valence x Expectancy.
Instrumentality
Pixar is giving this mind set to the employees in the company that if they put there the
best then in return the company will be giving them something and that is they will because the
campus of Pixar is developing slowly for the betterment of the employees. The employees of
Pixar are motivated every day because of the facilities which are there in the campus.
Valence
There is a sense of self-satisfaction when it comes to making the most from the aims and
objectives of the company. The more employees push themselves to achieve the goals and aims
the more satisfied they will feel.
Expectancy
The employees putting there best because they know that the end results will be good
because a lot of people are willing to watch Pixar films though they are animated still. The end
result is good therefore the employees of the company are putting in there best (Chisholm, 2017).
2 “Money can motivate a professional employee”
It is noticed that money can make employees work and not just work forcefully, but they
will be putting in their level bets if there is money included in the process of work. Money is the
best motivation an employee can get from any organization and it is important because every
individual in the world has a need and this is the only way they can fulfill that need (Morden,
2017). Employees who are getting low wages or are given extra work which includes no money
motivation then the employee will not do it because this will make the employee think that he is
not going to waste there forces and efforts for which they are not getting any kind of motivations.
Though there are other ways through which employees can be motivated but this is the best way
to motivate the employees in any company. But money is not the only motivation one has in life
which is that they can get motivated with power in the organization as well. Some people are
needs are fulfilled (Bryson, 2017).

very competitive in nature and those people get there motivation not just from money, but they
need power as will in the organization. Need for theory is the best example one can understand
this theory with that is they achievements, power and affiliation are motivation for individuals
too in an organization. There is not just money needs people have but there are other needs as
well and it very important for the individuals to have those so that the company will be able to
make a profit and the individuals be satisfied with fulfilling there needs.
3 Miscommunication cases
(a) Barriers of communication
Case 1
Malaysian Airlines spokesperson did not speak the truth about the pilot in the very first
go because that would get down the reputation of the company but after a lot of pressure the
spokesperson confirmed that the pilot was either sleepy or drunk because he did not make the
protocol which the pilots generally do which was “roger and out” but the pilot had spoken “All
right. Good night!” this clearly shows that the company did not take care if the pilot was in
senses or not and this was clearly the fault of the company.
Case 2
The way the pilot spoke for the emergency the ground staff did not think it was an
emergency that great, and they did not take any action which resulted in the plane crash. The
pilot also for got to say the keywords because they did not know what they were supposed to be
doing.
Case 3
The doctor did not care to tell the nurse that she was supposed to take care of the patient,
and she did not know that she was supposed to look at the amount of hydromorphone was going
in the patient (Vasu, Stewart and Garson, 2017). This miscommunication lead to the patient's
death.
(b) Non-verbal communication
Case 1
It was clearly a case of verbal mistake and also the company's lack of checking on the
pilots. It is very important to check on the pilot who is going to fly a lot of passengers from one
place to another.
Case 2
need power as will in the organization. Need for theory is the best example one can understand

Case 2

Communication gap is clearly missing in this case because they did not speak the key
elements to the ground staff and the pilots had to lose not just their life's but all the passengers
who were flying in that flight.
Case3
It goes without saying that the nurse has to check up on the patients now and then and
this is not just the doctors mistake but also the nurses mistake because she did not keep a check
on the patient.
(c) Suggest solution
Case 1
The pilots have to be careful before they fly a plane because they are in responsible for
all the passengers on the flight and it is there duty to be active and in full mental health while
flying the plane (Shepherd, Williams and Patzelt, 2015).
Case 2
The pilots must know what are the keys words they are supposed to speak so that they
can communicate with the people and this was a tense situation, and they spoke as if they did not
want the help because the ground staff gets these kinds of problems now and then, but they are
not so serious.
Case 3
The doctor who is going off duty or not taking rounds because they are busy must
communicate properly to the nurses so that they can take are of the patient when the doctors are
not around. The doctor themselves must make sure that they are giving there full to the patients
in the hospital.
4 The following questions are about decision-making.

Case (i)
There is the difference between the US psychology against the Chinese one. The Chinese
student have the major intensity of guilt and shameless while having the something wrong in
there decision-making, on the other hand the Chinese people feel proud if their children have
accepted rage mistakes. The Americans have the positive attitude expressing their proud on the
