PICO Question
The management of homeless adult women, their crisis of health in Australia, what are the
reasons for health problems and the solution proposed?
Introduction
Homelessness is a growing health and social issue in Australia, exacerbated by the
deinstitutionalization of mental care and prospering shortlists for open lodging. On the 2016
Census night, there were 116,427 homeless individuals in Australia. While the Census gauge
likens to under 1% of the Australian population, individuals who are homeless are immensely
over-spoke to in almost all mobility and mortality measurements. Resting unpleasant on the
road is the most noticeable type of homelessness yet represents about 7% of Australia's
homeless population (Speirs, Johnson & Jirojwong, 2013). The author elaborates and aims to
determine effective physical and psychosocial interventions for homeless women. The paper
explores the questions of PICO by analysing the current evidence on literature measuring
determine effective physical and psychosocial interventions for homeless women. Several
searches were conducted from the database. The methodologies for interventions included the
randomised controlled trials, quasi‐experimental and a comparative study about the health
problems among homeless women. A literature table will be designed to facilitate the critical
appraisal and synthesis of the selected literature. Diversity of the designs, measurement tools,
interventions and outcomes of these studies, narrative synthesis was used to appraise their
effectiveness. In the end, a conclusion will be established with validation of further research
into this area.
