INTRODUCTION
The management refers is an individual or group of individuals who generally challenges
as well as oversees an individual or group of people particular in efforts to execute desired goals
as well as objectives (Griffin 2021). Moreover, the definition of management consider the
ability to plan, organize, monitor as well as direct individuals. The university of the Edinburgh is
public research university. It is located in Old college, Edinburgh, United kingdom. The
university of the Edinburgh is largest as well as prestigious universities across the world. The
report highlight the brief introduction of the University of Edinburgh management structure.
Along with this report also includes definitions as well as role of the leadership and management
in different organizational situation also supported by concept or theories. Moreover, report also
evaluate weaknesses and strength of the leadership and management. Whereas in part 2 the
report will give an introduction of key operations of organizations. Furthermore, it includes
evaluation of impact of external business environment factors with some recommendation for
improvement to taken by an organization.

1) Introduction of college chosen college and its management structure
University of Edinburgh is one of the most prestigious universities in UK which is related
which is a public research organization. This organization has become one of the chief
intellectual centres in the country which is helpful in attracting people towards the country
having a positive impact on its overall growth and development. The University of Edinburgh
has a structured curriculum with a variety of courses and additional campaigns which are helpful
for the personal and professional development of candidates. This organization has developed an
effective image among the audience of UK which is helpful in attracting them for being a part of
this college. This organization follows a hierarchical structure which is helpful in establishing
structured levels for managing the work appropriately. With the help of this aspect, each and
every task is explained to the team members and superiors are assigned which monitors their
performance in order to gain a better understanding of the processes which are to be followed by
them (Saiti, and Stefou, 2020). University of Edinburgh is operating from a significant time
period in the education industry and it has achieved various heights in which define its success in
the industry.

2) Definition and role of managers and leaders with difference between them
A manager is referred to as a professional who has the responsibility of managing a group
of employees in order to achieve the business objectives. The managers have a role to organize
the different factors and resources which are necessary for the completion of tasks. They are
liable to identify the risks and challenges which may have a significant impact on the business
and develop better strategies for their mitigation. A leader is considered a person who has an
influence over people and motivates them to fulfil their tasks effectively. Leaders have a major
role to communicate and clarify the roles and responsibilities of their followers in order to
enhance their productivity. They need to set certain examples for their followers to stay satisfied
while fulfilling their role. They provide a clear direction to the followers in order to gain their
trust and achieve better results (Daft, and Marcic, 2016).
There is a significant relationship between leadership and management which explains
that the leadership focuses on the process of influencing people and increasing their motivation
levels to perform while management is related with the organizing of different activities which
are related with the completion of tasks. Management is referred as the quality of ruling over
candidates while leadership is the suitable skill which is related with having an influence on
other for increasing their interest in their role. Leadership is proactive in nature while
management is reactive which are opposite from each other.
3) Analysis of different roles of management and leadership in application of different
organizational situations-
Form the interview it was found that there are number of roles which are being performed
by the leaders and managers in different organizational situations. The University of Edinburgh
is a prestigious institution and having great diaspora to work so some issues are also there such
as-
Role of disseminator- It is hugely underrated role but the leaders are supposed to be a perfect
disseminator. They have to perform this role to widen the organizational diaspora. While coming
up with recruitment sessions on different positions or admitting students they have to perform
this role in critical and wider manner. For instance, as “Behavioural theory” believes that the
performance of a leader can only get thrive if it is aligning with its great behaviour.
