There are various management practices which are used by the management in the
organization in order to manage and handle the operational activities. One of the major
practices for the management is management by objective which is defined by Peter Drucker. It
is the process through which the certain objectives of the organization are conveyed by the
management to the staff members in order to develop the suitable plan for accomplishing it in
a proper sequence (Wong and Laschinger, 2013). It helps the manager in working effectively
and maintaining an adequate environment at the workplace. The major purpose of this practice
is to help the employees in understanding their roles and responsibilities effectively so that
they work appropriately in the activities and help the organization in accomplishing their
objectives. The major benefits of management by objective in the organization are motivation,
effective communication, objectives clarity, high commitment, and teamwork.
The management plays a substantial role in the success and effectiveness of the organizations.
Mintzberg has stated that there are ten management roles which are played by the manager in
the organization. The management roles are the figurehead, leader, liaison, monitor,
disseminator, spokesperson, entrepreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator, and
negotiator. These ten management roles are allocated in three categories such as
interpersonal, informational, and decisional. Every management is essential but there are three
effective roles such as leader, monitor, and negotiator. The manager utilizes the leadership
skills in order to lead the team and departments effectively such that their performance and
responsibilities are also managed toward the organizational goals. The monitor role helps the
manager in evaluating the information regarding the organization and industry and also looks
for the changes in the business environment. The team is also monitored in terms of

also evaluated that the successful leader possesses certain abilities, personality traits, and
interests which makes them different from other people (Tseng, 2010). The leadership trait
theory effectively explain those attributes which makes a successful leader such as leadership
motivation, self-confidence, knowledge of business, achievement drive, honesty and integrity,
cognitive ability, emotional maturity, creativity, and flexibility (Wu, et al. 2010). These attributes
have been identified with help of several types of research and provide us with the elements of
being a leader. In addition to this, there are various leadership styles which are followed by the
leader for leading in the organization. The leadership styles are autocratic, democratic,
strategic, transformational, team, cross-cultural, facilitative, laissez-faire, transactional,
coaching, charismatic, and visionary leadership. The autocratic leadership style is boss centred
such that the leader possesses all responsibility and authority. The leader takes all the required
decisions without any consultation with the subordinates. In addition, the democratic
leadership style focused on involving other people also in the required activities
(Selznick, 2011). This leadership style focuses on working with the subordinates in making
decisions regarding the organizational functioning. Here, the final responsibility and decision is
taken by the leader but after the mutual consent of the involved members.
Moreover, the management and leadership skills are segmented into hard and soft skills. These
hard and soft skills are helpful for the manager and leader in effectively fulfilling their roles and
responsibilities in the organization. There are five major hard management skills such as
planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and oversight. These hard management skills are
helpful for the manager in effectively conducting the organizational functions. In addition to
this, there are various leadership skills which are helpful for the effective functioning of the
leader. The leadership skills are generally soft and the major soft leadership skills are
communication, motivation, delegating, positivity, trustworthiness, creativity, feedback,
responsibility, commitment, and flexibility (Northouse, 2015). These skills help the leader in

Operational management is considered as one of the essential element of the organization. The
manager and leader of the organization choose suitable methods for conducting the operations
effectively. The operational activity of the organization could be explained in terms of
transformational processes. The transformational processes are known as the activities that
require inputs, transforms and further add values, and then provides the output to the
customers. For instance, the raw material is the input then it is transformed into the desired
products which are further provided to the customers as per their requirement. The
transformational processes could of any form such as manufacturing, transporting, supplying,
or service. In the manufacturing process, the raw material is transformed into required
products like equipment, cars, etc. Further, in transporting process, the material is transport
from one place to other for the customers like the taxi, courier, etc. The supply process is one
of the major elements in the industry where the ownership of the goods used to change like
retailing.
The success of the businesses in the industry has been observed due to the high-quality
products delivered by the organization to their customers. The quality plays a major role in the
organization functioning. Quality of a product or service is known as the perception of the
degree up to which the customer expectations regarding the products or services are fulfilled. It
is necessary for the manager to effectively maintain the quality of the products (Morgeson, et
al. 2010). There are four costs of quality which should be managed and handled by the
managers in order to achieve business objectives. The four cost of quality is cost of prevention,
cost of the appraisal, cost of internal failure, and cost of external failure. The prevention cost is
incurred in order to avoid any issue regarding quality while the appraisal cost focuses on
measuring and monitoring quality activities effectively. The internal failure and external failure
cost focus on the issues regarding the products or services before and after the delivery to
customers. The manager should effectively manage these four costs in order to accomplish
business objectives.
In addition to this, the total quality management approach is also helpful for the manager in
maintaining quality in the operations effectively. The TQM is one of the effective approaches

that help in delivering satisfaction among customers for a longer period of time (Wang, et al.
2012). The manager used TQM approach in order to maintain and enhance the efficiency of the
products or services for high quality. This approach helps in attaining the peak position in the
market. The manager effectively analyzes the available resources along with their workforce for
developing quality products (Müller and Turner, 2010). In addition, regular feedback is taken
from the customers in order to provide maximum satisfaction among them.
Just-in-time is also another approach which is used by the manager in the organization so that
they could attain high productivity and effectiveness. It is known as the inventory strategy
which is used by the organization for reducing the waste in the operations. The waste is
reduced by acquiring the products that are required in the production process such that
minimizing the inventory cost-effectively (Hoozée and Bruggeman, 2010). As per this approach,
the size of the inventory is reduced to small which helps in managing the high demand from the
customers effectively. There are various benefits of just in time approach like the production
time is short which helps in the manufacturing of the products such that the organization could
focus on manufacturing of other products also. It also reduces the cost of warehouse storage
requirements which manages the waste in operations effectively. Also, the organization invest
the limited amount of the raw material which reduces waste and helps in making required
products effectively (Freeman, 2010). Moreover, it helps the organization in managing their
resources effectively.
Further, the organization should fulfil the requirements of the customers effectively by utilizing
the available resources. The capacity management approach is the most effective approach in
meeting the requirements of the customers with ease. The manager utilizes this approach for
gaining effectiveness among the consumers in the market. The capacity planning is done by the
manager by considering all the future demand for product, workforce and equipment. The
major constraints in the capacity management are time and capacity (Colquitt, et al. 2011).
There are three methods through which the manager could consider the capacity which are
potential capacity, immediate capacity, and effective capacity. Further, these methods are
helpful for the manager in attaining the desired outcomes and attaining success in the business.

The management of the company also incorporated appropriate theories and techniques in
order to attain the organizational objectives effectively. It has been observed that the
management team of the Coca-Cola Company has utilized different theories for enhancing the
operations and attaining high growth in the business. In addition to this, the management team
conducts suitable training sessions for improving the skills and abilities of the workforce in
order to develop quality products (Cavazotte, et al. 2012). Moreover, suitable practices are also
implemented by the management team for the effectiveness of the department and the
organization.
There are two major leadership theories that are used by the manager and leader in the
company such as situational leadership and system leadership. In situation leadership, the
leader and manager take the appropriate decision as per the situation in order to attain better
outcomes. The major strength of this theory is that it could be applied in any situation and it
also helps in managing the situation effectively. Still, the weakness observed in this approach is
the failure among employees regarding their commitment and ambiguity in the operating
methods. In addition, the system leadership theory is based on the informal and formal
organizational policies, procedures, and structure. The major elements of this theory are
related to the communication between each other, decision-making, etc. The strength of this
theory is that the suitable plan for the organization is developed and implemented that helps in
the effectiveness of the organization. Also, it builds strong coordination among the team
members and different departments (Day, et al. 2014). Still, the weakness is observed regarding
their complex nature and over-conceptual.
The management has certain roles and responsibilities in the organization such as planning,
organizing, directing, staffing, controlling, and coordinating. In the planning process, the
manager of the organization develops suitable plan for the effective functioning of the
organization so that they could achieve the organizational goals. Further, the manager also
organized the available resources in such a manner that they could be utilized optimally. In staff
process, the manager effectively recruits the candidates that possess required potential and
skills which further work toward the organizational goals.

Currently, Coca-Cola Company has been facing issues regarding the increase in competition and
the rise in the prices of raw material. These issues have affected their business functioning and
effectiveness in the market at great extent. The management team of the Coca-Cola Company
is following different leadership theories, styles, and models for gaining effectiveness and
enhancement in their business (Hogan and Coote, 2014). The major theories and models are
the contemporary theory, classical management theory, contingency theory, situational
leadership, system leadership, and management by objective. As per the aforementioned issue,
the management of the company used contemporary theory in order to handle the issues
effectively. The manager followed the contemporary theory such that the supplier is
communicated regarding the prices of raw material and after suitable negotiation final price
will be set (Schein, 2010). In addition, the manager will be developing suitable strategies in
order to compete with other companies in the market for marketing, offers, etc.
The transformational process of Coca-Cola Company is related to manufacturing and supplying
such that they utilized the raw materials and transformed them into the beverage product and
further, they are introduced in the market. This transformational process is known as the
manufacturing and the supply process is done when the company used to sell their products in
the retail market (Kempster, et al. 2011). It is observed that these transformational processes
are helpful in conducting business operations effectively.
The impacts of two adjustments regarding the capacity management of the organization could
be observed on the different basis. The two adjustments are changing of suppliers and
conducting effective marketing. These two adjustments will influence the business functioning
and operation of the organization which further helps in attaining peak position in the market.
In addition, the business objectives will be accomplished effectively.
CONCLUSION
It has been depicted that the manager has various roles and responsibilities in the organization.
In addition to this, the report is helpful in understanding several aspects regarding the
management and leadership theories and models. Moreover, there are certain
recommendations which should be considered by the organization for attaining effectiveness.
