INTRODUCTION Operations management is determined as conversion of labour and materials into finishedservices and products. in an appropriate way for enhancing the overall profits of a business. Thisreport is based upon a British based retail organisation named Burberry that deals with day today latest fashion and trends (Ferguson and et. al., 2019). It covers the functions of managers andleaders in effective functioning of operations and management in this enterprise. It alsodetermines the various examples regarding the manner in which roles and functions of leadersand managers are applied in different situational based contexts. It also includes applications oftheories and models of various approaches system leadership, contingency, and situationalleadership towards operations management.LO1P1. Introduction to organisation- Burberry is a UK based retail business enterprise and itsheadquarter is in London, England. This retail company deals with trench coats, perfumes, readyto wear outwear, cosmetics, sunglasses and fragrances. This is a multinational organisation thatserves its products in around 51 countries (Amirkhanov and et. al., 2019). The reason behind itssuccess are its leaders and managers that has a key role in managing, controlling and upgradingoverall functioning of operations and management within this business entity. Leader-He is an individual who is responsible in convincing other individuals to follow him.Leaders has the ability to provide motivation among the followers for attaining goals andobjectives of a business. The basic characteristic which can be seen in a leader is that they aregood in maintaining effective flow of communication in an organisation. The role played byleader in operation management is to motivate employees towards achieving business objectives(Terwiesch, 2019). Manager- Manager is a person whose role is to control, evaluate and manage all tasks of abusiness enterprise. The basic character of a managers is that they are reliable and are availableto workers if they need any kind of support or guidance. The role that is played by manager inoperations management is to manage and control all the operations and activities of a business inan effective manner (Terwiesch and et. al., 2019).

Comparison between managers and leadersIn Burberry, both managers and leaders plays a significant part in overall functioning ofan organisation. Both of them are different on various aspects in respect to the roles played bythem and characteristics they own.
