Management and Organization Behavior 2Management and Organization BehaviourApproaches to Management Organizations differ in structure and goals, and so does the strategies used to achieving end goals in each case. The fundamental approaches to management include Taylor’s principles of scientific management, Fayol’s principles of management, neoclassical approaches, and Weber’s bureaucratic approach to management (Carpenter, Bauer, Erdogan and Short 2010). Thefour theories constitute the key elements required by organizations in carrying their daily management operations. Classical organization theory encompasses the use of scientific, bureaucratic, and administrative theories. Scientific management utilizes the specialization, standardization, and planning in ensuring efficiency at workplace. On the other hand, the bureaucratic approach focuses on the structure, predictability, and the existence of democracy in organizations in carrying out its operational plans (Morden 2017). The administrative theory based on the provisions by Henry Fayol which are guided by the principles of management. The components include planning, training, organizing, coordinating and obtaining a clear chain of command in organizations. The differences allow for different outcomes which may favor or limit the potential of growth in the process of operations. While others set several principles to be followed, others based on the scientific management provisions as long as it satisfies their goals in business. The different approaches have their merits and demerits but at the end turn to create and establish different standards in organizations. As such, the four criteria remain the commonly used means towards achieving the end goals.
