INTRODUCTION
In organisation management is an art to maximize efficiency, as a social process, method
of getting the things done through others a plan of the action and its direction by a co operative
group towards common goals or objectives. Effective utilization of all the available resources to
accomplish same goals or objective is management. It is a comprehensive function of the
planning, organising, leading, motivating and controlling the efforts of other people to attain the
objectives (Briesemeister and Selmer, 2022). Organization chosen in this report is Tesco that will
be helpful to understand different function of the management. This company is situated in UK
and mainly deal in retailing sector. This report will be based on the evaluation of the management
functions, their responsibilities, relations of marketing with other functions, role of the HR and
impact of the positive culture on organizational success.
Advantage and disadvantage of different organizational structure
Hierarchical structure- It is most popular and traditional structure in the existence and it is still
dominant in large organisation, corporations, government and religious group. Tesco also uses this
organisation structure in which all entities except topmost are subordinate to the another entity.
Advantages
Career path are defined very clearly with each employee performing to attain the level
higher than their own.
As there are various risk in organisation, this structure enable creating numerous
department where specific abilities are required.
Disadvantage
There is less flexibility as this structure is not adaptable to the changes (Stepanov and et.
al., 2022).
It take much time in decision making and their implementation as chain of the command
has to be followed.
Flat structure- In this, there is few or no level of any middle management between company's
executive and staff level workers. It decentralize decision making and also elevate levels of the
responsibilities of workers.
