Diversity Diversity in workplaces includes gender, race, age, cultural groups, religion, social status, military service, and physical and mental conditions, and also other different changes that take place between the people(Bradley & Klein, 2016). Diversity in workplaces is not new, but as more people, companies, and politicians discuss feminism, migration, gender identity, and gender income gap, it is arriving again as the headlines of business news(Danylchuk, Baker, Pitts & Zhang, 2015). According toGupta et al., (2017)diversity in workplaces is a strength, as because there are several advantages of diversity in the workplaces. For startups, the companies which seek to hire a diverse workforce has higher options of applicants to select from, which could lead to recruit more skilled candidates and decrease the time it might take to fill the vacancy(İnan, Gül & Yılmaz, 2017). The businesses which do not hire from diverse pools of applicants have the risk of missing out the chance of hiring the qualified candidates and might face more difficulty in filling the key roles of the company(Kokubu & Kitada, 2015). This might, in turn, increase recruitment expenditures. Greater focus on diversity will provide an opportunity to the organizations, as not only the companies could fill the vacancies with skilled candidates more quickly by hiring from various talent pools, but a diverse workforce also provides advantages to their employer and their brand which is essential when the question comes of recruiting the right candidate(Krug, Wright & Kroll, 2014). If a company have a diverse workforce with multi-lingual staffs and they are
8 Assignment Two: Management Research from different cultural backgrounds, it could help the companies to expand or improve their businesses in global, national, international and local markets(Perry, Wood & Fernie, 2015). From my personal experience, I have noticed that 62% of the workforce in Sephora and five out of six members of a digital executive team are women. The organization motivates the high-performing women to shift to digital and technical roles. It also helps to attract more female candidates in the long run of the business(Rashid, Barnes & Warnaby, 2016). Diversity at Sephora has created a working environment where all staffs feel free to communicate and are listened in meetings on any topic. The better understanding of diversity will help my management career, as working with staffs from diverse backgrounds will help me with new concepts and viewpoints. This would also help the organizations(Silva, Trevisan, Veloso & Dutra, 2016). Working with employees with diverse cultural backgrounds will help to inherit unique experiences and opinions that will strengthen my productivity. If diversity is correctly managed then it will make possible to control my strengths and balance my weaknesses.I perceive diversity as an opportunity as opportunity does not only provide access for diversity but diversity also opens doors towards opportunity. Becoming a diversity-conscious person might take important work and I might find time to realize the outcomes that are directly connected with the business. Organizational Fit The organizational fit discusses the compatibility between individuals and companies, which is a compatibility of principles and expectations between a staff and employer. The idea of organizational fit is based on two main assumptions; firstly, the human behavior is a role of a person and the atmosphere, and secondly, the person and the atmosphere has to be compatible with each other(Doh & Quigley, 2014). The most active contributors of the companies and some of the best minds in organizational psychology addresses the usage of fit theory in a selection, employment, leadership, diversity, teams, and decisions of human resources (HR)(Stewart & Aldrich, 2015).My SWOT analysis has shown that my strengths could play a significant function at the highest levels of the organization, where differences in technical capabilities are of minor significance. In other words, the higher ranked person in an organization is considered to be a star performer, and my strengths will show up as the reason for my effectiveness.
9 Assignment Two: Management Research My problem-solving capability will help the organization. I enjoy the challenge of examining the symptoms, recognizing the reasons, and finding the solutions. Irrespective of my position in the organization, I share a desire to make the workplace environment as friendly and enjoyable as much as possible. I am able to adopt a social and stress-free attitude and utilize it to get every other person on board with practical tasks which have to be done. Value could be positive or negative.Thefirstthreeareasofself-awareness;survival,relationshipandself-esteem concentrates on only self-interest. These are my weaknesses.
