Abstract
Traditional definitions of a ‘group' have hindered the understanding of individual behaviours in
those teams. Thesis: This article on group development intends to explore a different viewpoint
on the constituents of a group. According to Kingdon (1974), a group comprises of dyadic
interactions conjoined to form a totalization through the authority of the third party. Sociologists
and psychologists have a different view of a group. The social scientists state that a group is an
entity that functions similarly to metaphysical components. However, psychologists argue that a
group consists of individuals and the relationships between the members (Laing, & Cooper,
1999). There are two types of groups which include the group-as-a-series and group-as-a-
pledged entity. The first type of a group finds its unity of purpose outside the team. However, the
second kind of group derives their unity from mediated reciprocities. A series group is like
individuals waiting to vote during the polls. Hypothesis: The article has two interpretations.
H1: The increase in group interactions will reduce the sociological beliefs on the definitions and
view of a team; therefore, indicating the psychological distance or closeness of the members.
H2: The increase in group interactions will increase the reciprocity aspects of a dyadic
relationship.
