INTRODUCTION
Management skills can be defined as set of qualities that are required to carry out all the
activities of an organisation in systematic manner. In order to reach all the long term goals, it is
essential for an entity to make sure that it is having sufficient skills. Lack of them may result in
inappropriate execution of operations and unattained objectives (Harris and Kelly, 2019). The
main aim of this assignment is to determine importance of management skills for a business.
This report is based upon Newham Council which has recently created its new artist Enterprise
Hub for the purpose of bolstering borough’s creative sector and unlocking the potential. For this
purpose, different elements are covered in this report. These are importance of the effective
management skills and diversity in terms of people, cultures, business and management. Apart
from this, discussion of management theories on the basis of motivation, problem solving and
decision making are also covered in this report.

Importance of effective management skills within The Artist Enterprise Hub
Newham Council has decided to open a new hub which is The Artist Enterprise Hub so
that it can support the borough to be more creative and enhance the potential. It is essential for it
to make sure that all the activities of it are managed properly with the help of some effective
management skills. With the help of all of them, the hub will be able to manage all its activities
that will be performed in future. Description of all the required skills is as follows:
Management skills required for effective management of hub:
Problem solving: It is the one of the main skills that are required for the management of
the new hub. All the managers are required to have this quality so that they can deal with any
type of negative situation which may take place in future and affect the goals of the hub. Lack of
this skill may result in failure of all the plan that are made previously to attain success for it
(Hastings, 2017).
Effective decision making: In order to run a business smoothly it is very important for
all the managers to make sure that they are able to make effective decision with critical analysis
of each and every element. For the purpose of attaining success for The Artist Enterprise Hub it
is essential skill. With the help of it, favourable decisions for future could be formulated and

effective strategies to their success could be made. This management quality will help to
accomplish the predetermined aim successfully without any hurdle.
Planning: In order to achieve success effective planning is the key element which should
be focused by all the entities. For the proper management of new hub this skill will be required.
It can help to assure the success because when all the activities are performed with effective

engagement level in their job. There are five key elements of this theory which are as follows:
Basic psychological needs: these are the basic needs of staff members such as food,

 The hub can use the principles of administrative management to improve the quality of
the managers to formulate effective decisions as it will guide them to plan and coordinate
properly.
 The hub should inspire all the managers to pay attention towards the principles so that
they can improve their skill of problem solving as it will help them to control tehri
actions.
CONCLUSION
From the project report it has been concluded that management skills such as problem
solving, decision making, planning, communication etc. are essential for all the entities to attain

success. For this purpose, diversity is also required to be focused. There are various theories
which could also be focused for motivation, problem solving and decision making. These are
Maslow’s hierarchy and administrative theory.
