INTRODUCTION
Management skills are the attributes and abilities that are posses by a manager in order to
fulfil various objectives of an organisation. It consists of the capabilities for making sound
decisions, solving of problems and motivating the employees. Present report is based on newham
council that has created a new Artist enterprise hub and it has an aim of bolstering the creative
segment & using their potential (Beauvais, 2018). There has been a new management team
which is being made and the main purpose of report is to outline the importance of management
skills and its understanding in diversity. There will be further discussion of motivation
principles, problems solving and decision making taking part on organisations.

Management skills are very important to define it in a broader manner. These are the skills
that can help in understanding the requirements of employees and its importance in the scenario
given in new Artist enterprise hub there are certain skills that will be required by the
management:
Decision making:
Problem solving: There are certain skills that are required by employers so that they can
identify, deal and overcome the problems that are arising in the course of functioning of a
organisation (Currier, Mirza,. and Downing, 2017). Analytical skills are mainly required for
solving problems in a more appropriate and timely manner.
Professionalism: Professionalism, integrity and honesty are three key areas that are
compulsorily required in case of managers so that employees are aware of the exceptional
customer service that has to be provided by them. It will also help increasing a professional
behaviour and structured towards their job roles & responsibilities that they have to perform in
their course of business functioning.
Technical skills: these are the skills that are required especially for middle and lower
level managers in every organisation. It related to the industry experience and technical
knowhow of performing to particular task and responsibilities that are being assigned in the
course of business functions.

Innovation: It is a keyword that si associated with how new products or services can be
developed or changes that can be made in existing products. It is the management requirements
that there must be clear identification of short comings in the present models or manufacturing
criteria’s and then further fresh & creative ideas should be developed (Harris. and Kelly, 2019) .
It is also related with generation of redesigning of systems to increase their productivity.
Managers must motivate their employees so that they are able to get involved into development
of some new ideas and use of management skills and creation of opportunities.
Motivation: it is very important for managers have to motivate their employees as they are
assets of company. It is very helpful in enhancement of productivity and satisfaction of
employees. It is also used for purpose of encouraging employees in their skill development
(Gageand MacSuga-Gage., 2017). In new Artist enterprise hub it is very helpful in creating of a
highly motivated workforce, supporting their co workers, providing rewards & incentives and
empowering their staff for taking ownership of their own projects.

of communication with their employees (Mamabolo, ., Kerrin, and Kele, 2017)In case of
new Artist enterprise hub, the management have to make timely communication with
their employees working at different levels so that they can raise their voice regarding
anything they are willing to and at same time it will help in understanding employee
requirements. It will lead to having a motivated workforce that can make high
contribution.
2. Flexibility: It is a function that is related to understanding various ways that can be used
for completion of a task. If there will be very high rigidity in the functioning of an
organisation. Then it is going to create lot of pressure among employees and they may
not be satisfied. Hence, if there will be flexibility in working patterns, timings etc. Then it
is going to further employees feel more confident and satisfied in working towards
various objectives.

Culture diversity will lead to bringing together the explicit and implicit reward systems that will
help in defining the organisation working at a workplace (Olson, Scherer, and Cohen, 2017).
Culture is a tool that is having a direct impact on employees and will help in attainment of a

There are certain theories of management in motivation consist of different types of
theories. In present scenario, there is discussion of the Descriptive decision making theory &
normative decision making theory as below:
Descriptive and Normative decision theory of management:
Normative decision making: It is a theory is based on the rational behaviour of a
decision maker and another assumption of this theory is rather the decision maker is aware of
various optimal course of creation in a given business scenario. However, in the practical
business situations there are instances where there is high conflict and it is next to impossible for
a decision maker to identify the most rational course of decision. It leads to formation of the
descriptive theory of decision making:
Descriptive theory of decision making: It is a theory that is based on how irrational
beings are making different types of decisions. Further, it is based on the different managerial
decision in comparison with the normative models (Pratte, and Laposata, 2017). It is based on
suggestion of difficulty in obtaining the information and limits of complications that are part of a
decision making.
In case of the hub, it is the major responsibility of management that they must make
efforts in focussing on normative decision making behaviour rather than descriptive as for high
satisfaction level of employees and better decision making it so essential to make rational and
accurate decisions.
Problem solving:
Appreciative theory: It is one of the best regarded problems solving approaches that can
be used in various organisations. It was founded in the year 1980; it basically highlights the

overall contribution made by employees & use of strengths in a company to change its behaviour
and loving different types of issues arising in course of their business.
Motivational theory:
Maslow need hierarchy theory: Maslow has given a theory in which needs of a individual in
organisation is basically classified into five parts.
First theory is physiological needs: It consists of the basic requirements of a human in
terms of food, shelter, clothing etc (Youngand Hoane, 2018). Such requirements have to be
compulsorily fulfilled in order to ensure survival of an individual.
Safety needs: If the physiological needs are satisfied then a person moves towards the
safety needs in which they want to have emotional security, financial security etc.
Love & belongingness needs: It relates to the social needs such as friendship,
acceptance, affection etc.
Esteem needs: It is related with the achievement of individuals of two categories that is
there is a basic desire for reputation in the society. It is in concern with dignity and self esteem
needs for an individual.
Self Actualisation: It is related with a person potential for seeking growth by a person.
It may perceive to personal realisation needs of a individual (Proctor, 2018).
Above discussed are the some of the requirements of individual based on their stages in
The Hub mangers may exercise to create some strategies and then further implement them to
motivate their overall workforce.
Value of such theories for improvement of management in Hub
All the theories of motivation, problem solving and decision making play a very crucial role
in creating an environment that is comfortable both for employees and the management at same
time. It will also be very helpful in identification of various problems areas and then using all of
these for effectively management of employees.

Recommendations
In case of new Artist enterprise hub, there are several recommendations such as Maslow’s
theory of motivation shall be adopted by the management. Along with timely training session
mist be organised so that employees can be provided the required amount of training for the
purpose overall development.

Conclusion
It can be recommended from above discussed points that effective skills of management
play a very important in creating a effective leaders and identification of several situations in
which it can be converted into opportunity for motivating employees and remaining the
productivity of organisation.
