INTRODUCTION
Management is a process of planning, organising, directing, coordinating and controlling
of all functions for achieving goals and objectives of the firm. It help in maintaining all activities
of organisation on time effectively (Hill, Jones and Schilling, 2014). Hilton Hotel is an United
Kingdom brand of hotel which gives services within 85 countries with more than 570 resorts and
hotels. They give services in the industry of hospitality from may 31st 1919. Founder of this
groups of hotel is Conrad Hilton. In this report, discussed about different styles of management
and characteristics of leadership. Along with that workers motivation for meeting managerial
skills and goals which provide support in career development and make a plan of development.

1.1 Compare various management styles
Management helps in coordinating activities of an enterprise for meeting objective and
goals. It often contains as a production factor with money, materials and machines. Management
task contains both innovation and marketing.
 Autocratic: Leaders help in doing it all by their own. They maintain their force of
authority, threats, punishment, reward and intimidation or position. In this managers,
leaders and superiors are having particular authority of making decisions without
considering their employees.
Advantages: Good for inexperienced workers, easy to learn, control etc.
Disadvantages: Leaders dependence, skilled workers, bad for highly motivated.
 Democratic: In this style, managers encourage equal participation of leaders and workers
in making decisions also consider their feedbacks. They listen their employee’s plans and
ideas. They make an effective and healthy communication between management as well
as employees.
Advantages: Good enterprise fits, make strong team by democratic leaders, solution of complex
issues etc.
Disadvantages: Become apologetic, consumes time, appear uncertainty etc.
 Laissez Faire: Senior manager which are working within organisation are having a low
contribution within the organisation (Hitt, Ireland and Hoskisson, 2012). In this style of
leadership, employees manage their work themselves and workers make their own
decisions.

Advantages: Workers should be resourceful, confident and relaxed.
Disadvantages: Neglect planning process and lack of coordination.

Democratic In this, leaders share their powers,
responsibilities and decisions with their
employees or in groups. It is having a
decentralised authority. It is having a lower
level of control.
Autocratic In this style, all decisions are taken by
managers and leaders solely. They are having
centralised authority. It is having a higher level
of control.
Laissez Faire It is also known as delegative leadership. In
this style, managers allow group members and
hands off to take decisions (Jacobs, Chase and
Lummus, 2014). It mainly leads to the lowest
productivity within group members.
Similarities: These all government are not based on religion. Leadership styles are not having
much similarities between each other.
Hilton Hotel is implementing Democratic leadership style within their organisation. This
method helps in motivating and effective operations of management while supporting
suggestions as well as ideas.
1.2 Leadership characteristics
Hilton Hotel is having effective management and leadership for managing the whole
activities in an effective way. Some leadership characteristics are given below: Communication skills: It is important to have good communication skills in company’s
culture of Hilton Hotel. Leaders have to be a good listener as well as good speaker which
aid in communicating in every conditions. They have to deal with various people such as
tourist, traveller etc. who give various services.

 Creative skills: Leaders should promote and manage innovative as well as creative ideas
within their organisation. They carry out new strategies and working style for effective
use of their workers for better productivity within Hilton Hotel. Confidence: For being an effective leader, they should have confidence while
communicating with their employees but it does not mean that they became
overconfident. They should reflect their confidence in a way so that followers trust them.
Hilton Hotel managers are having all leadership characteristics at the same period. So,
they can manage all activities effectively and properly.

Communication is a process of conveying and understanding information from sender to
receiver within Hilton Hotel. This is a way of exchanging information between sender and
receiver by using gestures, body language, symbols, signs, behaviour etc.

Their are different skills of management which leader posses to carry out all
responsibilities and desired tasks in a perfect way. I am having many managerial skills which
shows companies effectiveness. My skills are discussed below:

employees. Properly management of skills prove
efficiencies of leadership abilities.
 For example: I solved conflicts within groups my
solving their issues in a effective way.
Interpersonal skills  I interact and communicate with employees.
 For example: I had taken a job interview in which I
interact with others peoples.

sometimes feel hesitate.

regular basis and ask issues if any while working.

want to learn important skills. By making our own targets, aims and objectives for facing issues
and life challenges (Larson and Gray, 2013).
Objectives Conflict management: Their should be skills within managers for solving conflicts among
employees. For developing these skills within ourself they have to control themselves and
calmly handle a situation by giving them solutions. Time management: Managers and leaders should develop skills of time management as
they should manage proper timing. For that they have to develop punctuality on time and
manage all activities on a limited span of time.
 Feedbacks: Giving and receiving of feedbacks help in analysing ourself with that we can
find out problems and solve them for own potential development.

3.1 Motivate and lead a team to meet objectives or goals
I will motivate my team members by enhancing their skills and capabilities. If I cant able
to increase their payments. Some of points are discussed below how I will motivate staff
members are as follows:
 I will make a goal plan and communicate with team members. Measure a plan from time
to time basis.
 I will help workers to achieve their daily goals so that they can improve their
performance (Vestbo and et. al., 2013).
 I will appraise in front of all employees who give their best on regular basis.
 Recognise system of workers for efforts and performance.
 Motivate workers for innovate or creative idea will increase self confidence.
3.2 Justify managerial decisions are in support of achieving goals and objectives
Hilton Hotel manger have to develop plans and strategies for increasing workers overall
profitability and productivity. They have to regulate and control all activities of business which
are carried out by their team members (Monczka and et. al., 2015). Its success not only depend
on right resources and strategies. They play a very main role while delivering quality
performance. So, managers decisions are directly impact on companies goals and profits.
Recommendations and areas of improvements of Hilton Hotel are explained below: Feedback: Manager of organisation help in motivating workers for participating in
decision making. Healthy environment: Its management responsibility to develop healthy workplace for
increasing workers productivity. Enhancing services: Managers help in developing strategies and plans for enhancing
services.
 Quality of product and services: It help in building a positive image of brand within a
marketplace.
