INTRODUCTIONManagement is a process of planning, organising, directing, coordinating and controllingof all functions for achieving goals and objectives of the firm. It help in maintaining all activitiesof organisation on time effectively(Hill, Jones and Schilling, 2014). Hilton Hotel is an UnitedKingdom brand of hotel which gives services within 85 countries with more than 570 resorts andhotels. They give services in the industry of hospitality from may 31st1919. Founder of thisgroups of hotel is Conrad Hilton. In this report, discussed about different styles of managementand characteristics of leadership. Along with that workers motivation for meeting managerialskills and goals which provide support in career development and make a plan of development.TASK 11.1 Compare various management stylesManagement helps in coordinating activities of an enterprise for meeting objective andgoals. It often contains as a production factor with money, materials and machines. Managementtask contains both innovation and marketing.Autocratic:Leaders help in doing it all by their own. They maintain their force ofauthority, threats, punishment, reward and intimidation or position. In this managers,leaders and superiors are having particular authority of making decisions withoutconsidering their employees.Advantages:Good for inexperienced workers, easy to learn, control etc.Disadvantages:Leaders dependence, skilled workers, bad for highly motivated.Democratic:In this style, managers encourage equal participation of leaders and workersin making decisions also consider their feedbacks. They listen their employee’s plans andideas. They make an effective and healthy communication between management as wellas employees.Advantages:Good enterprise fits, make strong team by democratic leaders, solution of complexissues etc.Disadvantages:Become apologetic, consumes time, appear uncertainty etc.Laissez Faire:Senior manager which are working within organisation are having a lowcontribution within the organisation(Hitt, Ireland and Hoskisson, 2012). In this style ofleadership, employees manage their work themselves and workers make their owndecisions.1
Advantages:Workers should be resourceful, confident and relaxed.Disadvantages:Neglect planning process and lack of coordination.Different management stylesDifferencesDemocraticIn this, leaders share their powers,responsibilities and decisions with theiremployees or in groups. It is having adecentralised authority. It is having a lowerlevel of control.AutocraticIn this style, all decisions are taken bymanagers and leaders solely. They are havingcentralised authority. It is having a higher levelof control.Laissez FaireIt is also known as delegative leadership. Inthis style, managers allow group members andhands off to take decisions(Jacobs, Chase andLummus, 2014). It mainly leads to the lowestproductivity within group members.Similarities:These all government are not based on religion. Leadership styles are not havingmuch similarities between each other.Hilton Hotel is implementing Democratic leadership style within their organisation. Thismethod helps in motivating and effective operations of management while supportingsuggestions as well as ideas.1.2 Leadership characteristicsHilton Hotel is having effective management and leadership for managing the wholeactivities in an effective way. Some leadership characteristics are given below:Communication skills:It is important to have good communication skills in company’sculture of Hilton Hotel.Leaders have to be a good listener as well as good speaker whichaid in communicating in every conditions. They have to deal with various people such astourist, traveller etc. who give various services.2
