INTRODUCTIONManagement can be defined as an art of getting things done from others. It is veryimportant for all the organisations to have good management so that their entire activities will beconducted in an effective manner. The management is being designed by the senior members ofthe companies itself and the employees are also selected by them only (Schermerhorn and et.al.,2014). It is very important that the managers should make good plans and policies for thecompany so that the productivity and profitability of the company gets enhanced. The companyused in this report is Hilton Hotel. There are various types of management styles and leadershipcharacteristics that will be referred in this report. Along with this, SWOT and personaldevelopment plan will also be created. TASK 11.1 Comparison of different management stylesManagement can be stated as authority of the company who manages the businessconcern whether it is business, NPO or the Govt. body (Management Styles,2018). There are theactivities which are being involved for making the efforts to make the employees much moreeffective (Belbin, 2010). There are various management styles within the company which are being described below: Autocratic Management StyleSimilarities: This kind of style is being performedby the managers at high level. Differences: They do not involve others in decisionmaking process. Democratic Management StyleSimilarities: This kind of style is being utilised bythe departmental manager at higherlevel. Differences:This kind of style is being utilised tomake the employees participate inprocess of decision making. Laissez Faire Management StyleSimilarities: This kind of style is being utilised bymanager and team members. Active management styleSimilarities: CEO of the Hotel Hilton mainly utilisethis kind of style.

Differences:This kind of style is being utilised todelegate or share the responsibilities ofmanagement. Differences:This is being utilised to have thenegative impact on the subordinates forthe trust factor. 1.2 Characteristics of leadershipThere are various kinds of leadership features which are being stated as follows: Communication Skills: This kind of skill is highly needed for being a better leader as itis highly essential to have better channel of communication by which sharing of data canbe done along with sharing talks with each other (Vestbo and et.al., 2013). Flexibility: There are the situations when there is high level of confusion between thingsor there is the change in objectives. Therefore, here, a leader needs to be flexible innature so that various kinds of adverse situations can be handled in effective and bettermanner. Achieving Results: There are various aims and objectives which needs to be defined bythe company thus, needs to be attained within allocated period of time. So, it is the role ofleader to make the team attain objectives of firm in better and effective manner. 1.3 Communication process of Hilton HotelCommunication can be defined as a process where two individuals mutually share theirideas, values and thoughts with each other or with more than one people. It is a very essentialprocess and is required to be used by each and every person to communicate with one another(Catapano and et.al., 2011). The table is completed as follows:Communication ProcessExplanation and ExampleVerbalIt is a kind of communication in which the message is conveyed orally. Thisincludes face to face conversation, television and radio based communication.WrittenIt is a kind of communication in which message is communicated in writtenform. This includes letters, books, e-mails, magazines etc. Non-VerbalIn this kind of communication, words are not used for conveying message andinstead of that, gestures are being used for the same.
