INTRODUCTION The term management practice refers to working methods and the innovation which is utilised by the manager for improving the work effectiveness of company operations and functions.Trainingstaff,introducingschemeforcustomers,empoweringandmotivating workforce etc. are known as management practice. The main motive to adopt management practices is to handle and control functions and operations that are performed by business. This report is based on the case study of Rebecca’s that perform the role of General manager on in the All-styles department store(Al-Ghamdi, 2014). It is a large store that is located in the city centre and deal in wide range of products including clothes section, furniture, electrical goods and many more. Further, the report highlights on roles and functions of management of general manager and its importance of executive role in a store. In the last, management theories that are linked with case study will also focused in this report. MAIN BODY Roles and functions of general management From the traditional era the major functions of management are planning, organising, controlling and directing. With performing all management functions in an efficient way management enhance efficiency and effectiveness of overall organisation. Rebecca works as a General manage in All-styles department store so there are various functions performed by management that includes distinctive constant working programme and formulation of report to improve working process of organisation. This is important for All-style department to perform all functions and operations in an appropriate manner and it is important for management to analyse all aspects of Rebecca role because it helps to resolve conflicts from organisation. Some functions which are performed by Rebecca as General Manager are mention as follow: Meeting with all department-General Manager monitor all functions and operations that is performed by manager of different departments(Banks and et. al., 2016). The importance of general manager role relates with liaison and with by performing this role it is easy for All-styles department to complete all work with more efficiency and effectiveness by developing positive relations with other manager and departments that leads to obtain top position in market. Moreover, other employees are also motivated to grab theattentionofexecutivesandotherworkforcebyaddingmoreeffortsfor accomplishing decided targets. Reviewing the work performance-In All-style department store there are various task performed by management and one of them relates with electrical department and it deals in electrical goods(Cooke, Saini and Wang, 2014). But due to previous reason the performance of electric division is reducing. So to complete all task in an appropriate manner Rebecca as a general manager perfume the monitor role. By performing monitor role it is identified that poor staff management and constant absent generate challenge for manager to perform functions with decided steps. Moreover, the importance for the role of General manager in All-style store is that by monitoring performance of electrical department Rebecca suggest to manager for
attending different session to boost the motivation of other employees for improving staff performance. Checking of schedule-Expansion of store is an important aspect for All-style because it helps in attracting more number of individuals. This also defines managing regular meeting with builders, architect and planners is essential for Rebecca as it is important for organisation to complete all task in an appropriate manner. Therefore, it is the responsibility of General manager to solve the issue which is generating conflicts between two departments. The reason of dispute is raised due to lack of space. Thus, Rebecca as on post of General Manager performed the role of disturbance handler.
