Development of good relationship is effective to the overall growth and performance of the
firm, as it creates enhancement of the employee morale, leading to the increase in their work
productivity. It has found that the teamwork, trust, respect, and effective communication are
the keys to successful work-relationships within an organisation. Orpic ensures carrying out
their operations safely and reliably while sustaining the care to the environment. The
company provides several opportunities for their people, which is one of the major factors of
their strengths. Therefore, it has been analysed that communication skills are vital to the
establishment of healthy relationship within workplace. Now, in the later section, the
discussion will move to the assessment of the various needs and stakeholders of the Orpic
(Baudry et al., 2017).
The needs and/or expectations of others
Stakeholders in any business organisation, refers to the people who affect the activities or
whose interests the company affects. The determination and identification of the stakeholders
within Orpic is done based on three aspects:
First is that, they are directly and indirectly affected by the project (or company operations);
have interests in the project of parent company; and/or, have the potential to influence project
outcomes or company operations. Orpic will act for the benefit of the various stakeholders,
customers, employees, and business partners and will carry out their business of
petrochemicals without affecting the interests of the nation (Carpenter and Wagner, 2019).
Stakeholder engagement plan (SEP) outlines the tool used by the company to initiate, build,
and maintain sound relationships with their stakeholders. A list of key stakeholders has been
identified within company i.e. communities, shareholders such as Orpic board, Oman oil
company, investors, media, government, representatives, NGOs, and other internal
stakeholders. From the analysis of previous stakeholder engagement plan, communities found
as the major stakeholders (Orpic, 2018). Understanding the requirements of stakeholders is
important as it build a positive image and reputation of the business and helps acquire a larger
market share. For an example, investors need to be informed regarding initiation of any new
project by the company to acquire huge capital investments and ensure growth (Goch et al.,
2018).

processes need to be used in the organisation. The company conveys the messages and ideas
about their various projects to the stakeholders. Several processes and tools are used within

The tool helps in communicating about the projects through team-workshops which helps in
taking effective decisions. Moreover, SEP is one major aspect that helps in the evaluation of
the fulfilment of the needs of stakeholders. Orpic aims to listen, collaborate with the
stakeholders to gain their trust. For the same, Orpic uses several tools to communicate with
stakeholders, such as in person meetings, website notifications, announcement in the visitor’s
centre. Orpic focuses on the promotion of diversity, and fulfilment of the interests of these
stakeholders, through communicating them about the major projects of the company (Orpic,
2018).
Managing relationships
Every organisation faces certain issues or conflicts in the management of their business
practices, and achievement of various organisational goals. Effective communication is the
process, which leads to the conflict resolution, ensuring managing several other constraints
faced by the individuals working in the Orpic. Thus, in context to the company Orpic,
managers and other project members need to adopt various communication skills, such as
active listening skills, speaking skills, respect, trust, and mutual understanding. These ensure
