INTRODUCTION
Equality is all about ensuring that employees get equal opportunity and is treated fairly at
workplace. On the other side, diversity is about taking consideration of difference among
individual and group of individual and developing a value that is positive on those differences
(Nachmias and Caven, 2018). Equality & diversity is an important factor as it assist an
organisation to achieve task within stipulated time period. It is significant for a company to
equally and fairly treat them with in the premises in order to retain them for longer time frame.
and put their efforts in achieving objectives and goals as well. In the present research, Tesco is
taken into consideration. The company was formulated in the year 1919 and its head office is
located in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. It is a multinational retailer that offer quality grocery
in market and it has more than 6,900 shops worldwide. The present research will involve
development of aims and objectives associated with Equality and Diversity. Along with this,
Gantt chart, project management plan and work breakdown structure is cover in the report. In
addition to this, both primary and secondary data is taken in order to gain better understanding
about the specific topic.

According to Mayhew, equality and diversity in the workplace is important for the
organizations because it helps in ensuring that the organization works in a highly smooth manner
without facing problems and issues (Artto, Ahola and Vartiainen, 2016). For this purpose, there
is a requirement of making use of appropriate techniques so that there is no problems faced while
maintaining it in the company. In Tesco, there are various employees who are of diverse race,
colour and religion. Maintaining diversity therefore is a challenge in front of the managers.
Similarly, equality has to be maintained in Tesco regardless of the other considerations.
Therefore according to the author there is a requirement to maintain equality in the gender pay
gap in the organization. In this way equality & diversity can be maintained within a company.
There are different challenges which are faced by the managers in maintaining them in the
organization. For dealing with such challenges, it is required to be ensure that the right approach
can be adopted for maintaining equality as well as diversity in the organization effectively and
efficiently.

According to Reynolds, the organizations face several challenges while maintaining
equality and diversity in the workplace (Barker and Zupick, 2017). Therefore the managers need
to face them in the right manner so that they are able to attain the desired goals and objectives. In
a company there are diverse teams which are working and have different members present in

them. Therefore it is required from the managers of Tesco that they are able to face off the
challenges of colleagues from other cultures, integration across teams, misinterpretation of
professional communication, navigation of visa requirements, different understanding of
professional etiquette and conflicting working styles across the teams (Gibson and Fernandez,
2018). The author states that for the companies there needs to be a specified approach for dealing
with these challenges in a quite effective manner. Therefore In this way the firms will be able to
make sure that they are able to attain their distinct outcomes by maintaining the required equality
& diversity in the workplace. Thus there is a requirement from the organizations that they treat
every employee in a fair and equal manner which will ensure that equality & diversity is
maintained.

According to Leonard, different strategies can be adopted by the organizations for the
purpose of dealing with the issues related to diversity in the workplace. These strategies are
defining the issues, highlighting of personal uniqueness, development of policies,
communication of policies, holding people accountable and continuing to evolve. The use of
these strategies needs to be made by the management of Tesco so that they are able to maintain
the equality and diversity in the workplace. In this manner, they will be able to make sure that
the teams across various functions work in an efficient manner so as to attain the desired goals
and objectives easily without facing problems and issues. This will help in the attainment of
sustainable level of success.
Project Management Plan
A Project Management Plan is a document which is required by the managers to find out
the strategies and techniques which can be adopted particularly by them in order to achieve the
goals and objectives of the project and to make it successful (Focacci, 2017). As the management
of Tesco aims to promote equality and diversity in the workplace they are required to be quite
specific in the strategies they are going to adopt which will make their project highly successful.
The elements in the Project Management Plan of Tesco are as follows-
Cost- A particular cost is incurred by the organizations in the implementation of their projects
(Gama, Sjödin and Frishammar, 2017). For this purpose, the management is required to gather
the data from the various types of sources regarding the cost which is likely to be incurred. Tesco

will also incur the cost in its project of promotion of equality and diversity details of which are as
follows-
Scope- With the scope of project a project manager is able to determine what outcomes it will
achieve in the future time period. In Tesco, the project managers should be able to determine the
outcomes which may be achieved when the project to promote equality & diversity is launched
within the organization.
Time- In the context of projects, it is important that the time which is taken for the completion of
the projects is determined. For Tesco, it becomes highly necessary that it is able to determine the
time which will be taken by it for the completion of its project of promotion of equality and
diversity in the workplace (Syed and Ozbilgin, 2019).
Quality- It is essential to maintain good quality in the outcomes which the project is likely to
achieve (Johnson, 2019). For this the management is required to make the use of certain types of
techniques like KPIs, Benchmarking, Balanced Scorecard etc. In Tesco, there is a requirement of
doing so.
Communication- While ensuring the completion of the project, the project manager has to
communicate with several people who are involved in it. Therefore in Tesco there is a
requirement from the managers to be able to communicate in a correct manner.
Risk- There are several types of risks which are faced while ensuring the completion of a
project. In the context of Tesco, there is a requirement of identifying the risks which are
associated with the project of maintaining of equality and diversity at workplace. This has to be
mitigated.
Work Breakdown Structure- A WBS refers to project management in which the tasks in a
project are broken down into several smaller parts. Therefore the different types of tasks are
identified and the approach of giving the specified tasks to the person who can excel in their
completion needs to be adopted. This will help in the attainment of maximum efficiency and
effectiveness. Tesco needs to use a WBS for the promotion of equality and diversity at

organizations for the purpose of analysis and interpretation (Dahanayake, 2018). For the firms it
is highly essential to make use of them so that they are able to express their findings in the terms
of numbers. The use of graphs, pie-charts and other statistical techniques is used commonly for
this purpose.
Through the use of these methods the following data can be gathered-
Primary Data- This is the data which is collected by the investigator. The information
which is collected using this data must be highly reliable and accurate so that it can be used
correctly and accurately by the investigators. This data is required to be gathered by Tesco for

Secondary Data- This refers to the data which is already available in the various books

Recommendations
By analysing the above data, some of the recommendations given by the investigator to
the top level authorities of Tesco and is discussed below:
It is suggested to the higher level authority of Tesco to provide training & development
session to the staff members of company so that they get to know about importance of
equality & diversity at workplace in an effective manner (Georgiadou, Gonzalez-Perez
and Olivas-Lujan, 2019). In addition to this, it will also assist company to develop good
relationship with the employees and know their opinions and perception level of staff
members properly.
It is suggested to the management team to execute equality & diversity practices at
workplace such as providing equal opportunity to male & female employees,
implementing equality law and so on. This will assist company to retain its staff
members for longer time frame and improve their productivity level in an effective
manner.
Along with this, it is suggested to the higher authorities of respective company to adopt
those strategy which allow staff members to participate in the decision making process
and give their ideas to the management (Ng and Stamper, 2018). This will make
employees feel valued and important at workplace and develop their interest towards
implementation of activities which has positive influence on performance level of Tesco.

Reflection
While conducting the research, it is analysed that there are various factors that leads to
put prominent impact on the overall outcome in negative way. Along with this, it is also
considered as the section in terms of gathering data and information from various sources which
is more time consuming process. Despite from this, at the time of conducting research and its
concerning activities, it is identified that my communication and team management skills are not
much effective that leads to impact the overall performance of more harmful way. Additionally,
it is also said that I was quite nervous and under confident at the time of developing

communication and interacting with people that leads to put negative impact on whole research
in negative way. At the end of research, I also examine that my skills need to be enhanced at the
time of doing proper investigation that should be completed in effective way. By considering the
low confidence level which is quite weak in me leads to influence the research and the
performance of employees as well who work with me. Furthermore, I am also quite weak in
problem solving as I cannot solve each and every problem and also take time to analyse and
understand things that also influences the research and its concerning performance. Along with
this, it also describe the significant limitations and drawback the impact the research and its
concerning conclusion that include limited resources, also have lack of funds and other
concerning things that are required. Hence, all of these things put negative impact on running
and functioning of company. In terms of this, for the effectively conducting research it is
identified that I need to overcome from my weakness and need to improve these skills as it plays
an important role in terms of effectively doing investigation and also tends to develop my
observation and analytical skills which is useful for me in terms of critically analysing and
observing the prominent situation as it is helpful for me in order to examining the overall
situation and tends to take corrective action for any deviation.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that for managing a successful business project
it is required that the management of an organization adopts the right techniques. It is important
to determine project aims and objectives, a project management plan is useful for the purpose of
the right management of project to attain its objectives, WBS and Gantt Chart can be used for
raising the efficiency and effectiveness level during the project, research can be carried out with
the use of appropriate methods. Additionally, it is important to present the data with the use of
finding gathered, communication must be made for drawing relevant conclusions. Also,
reflection can be made on the project undertaken to find out problems and issues and solving
them.

Main aim of this project is to To determine the importance of equality and diversity in increasing

Yes, according to my view point, I have succeed research aim and this is because the
higher authorities of Tesco who give me positive outcome at the time of conducting
business investigation, Along with this, the present investigation help me in developing
