INTRODUCTION
To ensures a long term success and maintain the balance with dynamic market and
business trends it is vital for a business firm to conduct and lead regular market research. In
today's business environment the role and importance of equality and diversity is increasing that
leaving significant impact on activity and operation level of employees as well as their
performances (Bjorvatn and Wald, 2018). Diversity and equality in workplace is a primal factor
playing major role in performances of individuals present at different levels and on overall
performance and profitability of company. Moreover, the concept of diversity and equality is
contributing to Corporate Social Responsibilities of company too as they are required to serve to
the society in which operations are being performed and returning back the favour to the people
by generating employment opportunities and rendering them equal chance to grow
professionally. The respective report is developed on Burberry a British luxury fashion house
which was founded in 1856 and headquartered in London, UK offering products and services all
over world.

Aim
“To review about the concept of equality and diversity along with determining the impact
of company policies made on equality and diversity on employee's day to day activity”. A case
study on Burberry Group PLC.
Objectives:
To review about the phenomena of diverseness and equality at workplace of an
organisation.
To evaluate how the company policies of Burberry made on equality and diversity
translate and create impact on employee's day to day activity.
To determine better ways which could be adopted by Burberry to lead an inclusive and
fair workplace environment.

Literature Review:
To review about the phenomena of diverseness and equality at workplace of an
organisation.
According to the views of Lynne Callister. 2019, diversity and equality at workplace is a
wide concept which reflects upon the practices going on the firm in relation with equal
opportunities being provided to all personnels according to their skills and position and how they
are being treated by management and other colleagues. Diversity and equality is a practice by
which firms are suggested to hire of all kinds, belonging to separate backgrounds and providing
each employee equal chances and opportunities to grow (Heldman, 2018). Diversity in
workforce renders them a widen range of employees bring better and fresh thinking developing
creative and innovative ways of working and performing separate tasks. Bringing equality in
company is the characteristic of the culture in workplace. Organisational culture plays a major
role in developing and environment in which all personnels are provided equal opportunities to
showcase their talents and mover further in career through their skill set and capabilities.
To evaluate how the company policies of Burberry made on equality and diversity translate
and create impact on employee's day to day activity.
According to Louise Petty. 2016, diversity and equality in workplace brings positive and
beneficial results for the organisation but can impact negatively if appropriate balance is not
developed in company. Burberry is an international brand which is operating and serving to
customers all over world. This fact implies that company is exposed to several social
environment and societies with different religions, lifestyles, traits, age etc. making necessary to
have diverse workforce and being treated equally in the workplaces. Employee needs to be
motivated and one factor which plays a major role in it is potential and equal opportunities of
moving further in their careers and getting higher position in organisation with their talents and
capabilities (Butler, Vijayasarathy and Roberts, 2020).

Workplace equality and diversity is must and a mandatory factors nowadays in modern
business and organisational environment. Governments of different regions have developed
multiple laws and regulations for protecting rights of employee and keep them safe in working
environment and equality and diversity is a major element of those laws. Thus, the result is
company integrates their internal policies and regulations with the laws developed by
government in relation to diversity and equality. In order to make better measures the
management of Burberry have to be more strict and dedicated towards removing any
discrimination form the environment of and also to make sure that every level of operational
have diverse employees with equal opportunities and capabilities (Fernando and et. al., 2018) .
P2) Project management plan
A project management plan is a document holding blueprints for all the required data and
information for successfully completing a project in the allotted time frame. The project
management plan is a process of Planning, Implementing, Controlling, Executing and
Monitoring all tasks and actions undertaken for completing the whole project and obtaining the
goals behind it. Few elements of a Project management plan are as under:
Cost refers to the total amount that is required to complete the project in required time
and by accomplishing all goals. In order to conduct research on the topic the cost of
£68000 which is divided further.
Time referring to the period that is days, months or years required for gaining appropriate
results for the research and which is of around 3 weeks.

compulsion that the research study project gets completed in the prescribed time by

Quality of the project depend upon the quality of effective results gathered after
completion of project and the aim of it being accomplished with utmost efficiency. The
researches efforts and potentials defines and reflects upon the quality of outcomes and
research results.
Communication is an effective tool and ability which an investigator have to have in
order to develop appropriate conversations and interactions with other while conducting
their study. There are several communication channels and tools which will be beneficial
for the researcher and enable them to conduct potential communication with others.
Risk is one element which is associated with all the projects and their processing.
Investigators have to make changes and efforts for mitigating the risks and their impacts
over their project and its outcomes (Yıldırım and Korkmaz, 2019).
Resources are the relative items tangible or intangible that are necessary for the
investigator for conducting their study and which contributes to gaining factual
information and develop a potential database for supporting the research results with
evidence.
P3) Gantt chart and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
Gantt Chart, is a table formate document which is used as a blue print for managing the
whole project and complete it on time with utmost efficiency. Gantt chart is used for scheduling
all the required tasks to be performed and renders better knowledge to researcher about the
dependency of all the activities on each other and over resources (Sumner, 2018).

Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), is a method of dividing all the task and essential
activities of conducting the study into small groups and place them into segments according to
their characteristics and nature of work. Work Breakdown Structure enable more clarity to
investigator and assist them in making improved analysis and face complexities with correct
measures (Tidd and Bessant, 2018).

The above research has provided a deep evaluation of conception of equality and
diversity which lead significant impact and translate day to day activities of employees . Thus,
on the basis of above small scale research following recommendation can be lade down for
Burberry to have better translation of equality and diversity in its company policy which ensures
a fair and inclusive workforce.
Implication of Effective communication is highly recommended for Burberry as it leads
and ensures enhanced interaction among employees which reduces the chances of chaos
and conflicts and brings higher bonding and connection between them,. Thus, ensures a
more positive workplace to manage equality and diversity along with leading positive
translation in day to day activity of employees.
Adoption of unbiased HR practises are also suitable for Burberry company as it lead to
fair selection of employees and candidates to ensure enhanced skill and creativity in
workforce along with leading better creation and management of diversity and inclusive

P7) Reflection
The research topic is of Diversity and Equality in workplace which is conducted by me
enabled me to generate an in depth analysis and knowledge about the same and the importance of
topic in relation with benefits and favours developed for the company. The concept of diversity
and equality induces and develops a positive environment in company which is reflected by the
culture and hierarchical structure of organisation. It is one of the vital prospect which
concentrates upon fair and unbiased practices being followed in the entity while performing tasks
and completing project in the prescribed time for achieving short and long term goals.
Through the research is gained information and knowledge about the topic from multiple
literatures and a common idea which I received form the opinions of different experts is that
diverseness and equality in organisation is a practice which is covered under modern workplace
concept and for which governments have taken sever actions. According to my
acknowledgement, the profitability, performances, growth, success and goals achievement of a
business depends upon its workforce and their effectiveness while working. Personnels and their
effectiveness is affected by biased and unfair work environment and actions taken by the
management and leaders of company. Therefore, it is mandatory for leaders and managers to
make improvement in their actions and keep staff motivated and develop an fair and unbiased
environment in the workplaces.
Also, for conducting this research is have made use of two broad ways of performing
research that are qualitative and quantitative. Both are efficient sources of knowledge which are
potential for people to use and most commonly used by all investigators. While doing so I got to
gather information about two ways of data collection which are constructive and renders ease to
researchers like me in collecting most relevant and factual data for reaching to a potential
conclusion. I have used Gantt chart and Work Breakdown Structure for keeping and maintaining
my focus on all tasks and for making appropriate analysis at every level by investing ample time
and hard work. Also, while collecting data is divided the whole population into segments and
selecting a random sample of 35 respondents. There were few challenges which I faced while
making arrangements and performing my tasks for collecting evident information and data over
the topic such as insufficient statistical data and figures, irrelevant data collected and created
difficulties in sorting data for the best use.

CONCLUSION
From discussion conducted above in the report it is summarised that companies becomes
successful and grow eventually with development and implementation of specific strategies that
are beneficial for achieving goals and aims. The report considers the topic of diversity and
equality in workplace indicating towards its importance for the company to learn and develop
creative ways of working and stay competitive in the marketplace by aligning operations with
modern workplaces practices and inducing motivation level of people.
