Research methodology is the procedure of using the systematic collection of elements
such as research philosophy, research approaches, research types, data collection methods and
more to conduct the research (Kumar, 2019). For conducting any research, the theoretical
analysis are included to fulfil the objectives and aim of the research and the principles are used to
know about the techniques, tools and methods to be used in the research work.
Research type- In this project, there are two types namely qualitative and quantitative research
which focus on giving an understanding about the literature, opinions and ideas. This is mainly
based on understanding the approachability of people and also assist in generation of numerical
data and statistics. Here the qualitative research type is dependent on the textual data and
involves conducting surveys, interviews, reviewing the focus groups and more. On the other
hand, the quantitative research data is based on numerical data and consists of tools and
techniques to give authentic data while researching. Present report used Qualitative research
which is almost dependent on textual data as well as conduct different interviews as well as
surveys.
Research Approach- it is considered as the step that reflects upon the assumptions made to
conduct the research and is based on categories of data reasoning or analysis and data collection.
This is of three types and involves deductive and inductive approaches. A deductive approach
begins with a hypothesis while inductive approach can use the research questions. Inductive
approaches highlights on exploring new phenomenon from different context. The purpose is to
design and understand the aspects about the influence of the multinational companies on the
flourishing business in the host country (Viehof and Winner, 2018). Thus, inductive reasoning is
going to be considered where the search is based on observations and bringing changes in the
study. Present study based on the qualitative studies that includes a deductive approach.
Research Philosophy- This is defined as the basis for initiating the research by emphasizing on
the source, nature and development of knowledge. Here it is divided into four main philosophies
while conducting the research such as positivism, realism, interpretivism and pragmatism
(Gravetter and Forzano, 2018). The adoption of realism would fetch the appropriate methods to
be implemented to understand the conceptual frameworks. Positivism also gives the factual

knowledge that includes the trustworthiness, measurement. In positivism the term used to
describe an approach that has particular scientific evidence. Interpretivism approach argues that
the people are not puppets who can react to external sources. Interpretivism is a qualitative
approach. Present study follows an Interpretivism approach.
Data Collection- This is referred as the process of obtaining the data, information and details by
using number of sources. It is of mainly two types and include primary data collection and
secondary data collection for performing the research to attain the aim and objectives. Here the
primary data collection has been considered to know about the impact of the business operation
of McDonald’s on the new restaurant business in the host country of England. Primary data
include the interviews, surveys as well as experiments. For instance, survey has been conducted
to know about the respondents regarding the same (Norgaard and Sikor, 2018). Along with this,
interview was conducted with two managers who were located in two different locations to gain
an understanding.
Sampling- This is one of the statistical processes that is based on the pre determined
observations made to fulfil the objectives of the study (Fink, 2019). In this research, simple
random sampling has been considered to select a sample from the larger available population.
The sample size for conducting the survey is 10 respondents and is mixed of customers and staff
of different age groups. Along with this, the chosen size for conducting interview is 2 managers.

Interpretation:
It has been demonstrated that quality management of businesses are dependent upon the
pricing strategy in order to gain the customers' attention. The majority of respondents claimed
that McDonalds has successfully adopted the pricing strategy and fulfilled the quality criteria as
well. The people were satisfied with its service in context to its affordability and availability of
options. However, there are studies that showed that with low pricing, the quality of services is
also low and has adverse influence on the safety and well-being of public.

Interpretation-
The demonstration stated that respondents are in equal say, that is 5 in favour and 5 in
against about the influence of the business strategy of the multinational companies like
McDonalds on the local markets. However, 5 respondents said that the effect of McDonalds on
the business plan and strategies led the new businesses to be more innovative and customer
friendly. It has also seen that 5 respondents said that there is no influence of McDonalds strategy
on the new restaurant business because the preferences, taste and services provided are different
in nature.

Interpretation-
It is clear from the above graph that the cultural aspects of the host country, England has
an influence on the mindsets of the consumers and also acted as an additional advantage in
gaining the competitive advantages. Out of ten, 6 respondents were in favour that the cultural
aspects has a direct relationship on the new businesses and assist in reaching the targeted
audience in more organised ways. Remaining 4 were in disagreement that the cultural aspects
has a direct effect on the mindset of the customers while consuming the product or service.

From the above graph, it has been found that 7 respondents were in agreement that the marketing
strategy adopted by McDonalds is beneficial for forming the loyal customer base. There are
several factors such as the investment, huge taskforce, number of outlets in many locations in the
world etc. However, it has grown its profits and revenues by establishing credibility and
reliability through consistent efforts in regard to the quality and delivery of services. Thus, with
expansion plans of multinational companies, the new businesses also get a platform to showcase
their innovation by being transparent, flexible and reliable.

From above, it has been concluded that there were 7 respondents that can be adopted by
McDonald's which takes huge taskforce. it also grows profits as well as revenues.

Interpretations
The following is the analysis after discussing the above questions with the managers. It
clearly indicated that the new restaurant business received challenges and difficulties in
establishing the business, especially from the existing brand names and must be flexible to gain
the attention of their customers. The focus areas must be hygiene and sanitation of the premises
and kitchen, checking the quality of the raw materials used and monitoring the staff behaviour.

Interpretation:
Manager 1: Yes it has impacted in positive way as it makes the administration to work in
systematic manner
Manager 2: No there is no effect because people are attracted towards the local flavours and
understand it better.

It can be evaluated that there are several recommendations that can be followed by new
restaurant business. Such suggestions will enable the management to maintain the quality of
operations and reduce impact. By this, goals and objectives can be attained quickly for the
betterment of the company. These are described as below :-
 Technology can be installed in other functions as well such as R&D, SCM, etc. it will be
useful in maintaining efficiency in those areas as well. This will help in maintaining
operational efficiency.
 A risk assessment can be done which will enable in finding out negative factors and
taking effective measures to mitigate it. Thus, in this way impact of risk can be reduced
on local business operations.
 There is also need of proper evaluation of the staff to regulate the quality perspective and
laid the foundation of systematic pricing strategies to gain the attention of the customers.
 The focus must be based on innovation by serving variety of dishes and cuisines to
establish a loyal customer base and also give advantages over the existing competition in
the local markets.
In regard to the interpretation from the data analysis, it has been inferred that the presence
of a multinational company help in the growth and productivity of new and small based
companies like the chosen new restaurant. It not only gives a tough competition to survive the
complications and assist in reaching the targeted customers.

P7 Reflect on the value of undertaking the research to meet the stated objectives and own
learning and performance
By conducting research I learned many things about the various approaches,methods and
adopting several approaches. First of all I gained knowledge about how local business operations
are affected due to entering of MNC restaurant. In addition to this, I gained knowledge about
McDonald’s ability to maintain efficiency in their operations. Moreover, I learned about different

research method and when they are applied or used. I understood that the ethical considerations
are important and the people involved must be provided with a safe and secured platforms. Thus,
I understood that with steady efforts, one can collect authentic information to know about the
impact on the business in the global levels and improved my understanding regarding the
marketing strategies,business plans,financial statements and more.
Furthermore, I worked effectively with my team. I communicated with them in effective
way. It was easy for me to coordinate with them and complete activities on time. At last I came
to conclusion I effectively communicated with others. For this I used smart phones and formed
proper structure. It was easy for me to get things done in proper way. Also, I was able to remain
in touch frequently with others. Thus, the information was quickly shared. I came to analyse that
there was certain issues faced while conducting study. It led to delay in task so we have to
manage our time so that overall research is completed in time. I interpreted and analysed data. As
I was not having experience it was difficult for me to interpret it.
