Introduction
Management of any project within the organization is depends upon the resources utilization. If
organization wants to complete the project successfully then it is important for the organization
to cover all the relevant steps and action plans in the project management plan. This report will
include the computing project in respect of the DHL organization that is providing courier
services in worldwide nation and this organization is based in the UK. This computing project is
for DHL organization because there are some of the security issues or threats facing by the
organization while will damage the information of their customers and employees. With the help
of this project they will reduce the negative impact of the vulnerabilities and apply the logical
and physical security resources in their organization. This report will provide the project
management plan for DHL organization through which they will cover time, scope and cost. The
report will also include the research through which suggestions and opinion of the respondents
will be identifying regarding the impact of vulnerabilities on their computing devices
performance.

P1 Devise project aims and objectives
Description of the project
Devices which are related to the internet will always support the organizations for their
automation and processing effectively in their routine operations. Apart from this, there are
various types of security issues faced by the organization while using the internet enabled
devices. Security issues which are related to the internet devices are somehow associated with
the physical and logical resources. This project is mainly used to plan the security system for the
organization so that information and details of the customers can be maintained. The project
planning is to ensure about the computing system security which are mainly used between the
customers and the suppliers of the DHL organization (Subashini and Kavitha, 2011).
DHL express organization is the division of German logistics organization which provide the
international courier services, mail services express and parcel. As per the services of the
organization they have three main requirements so that they can achieve the information
management like- integrity, confidentiality and availability. This project will also overcome
security threats and issues along with the potential solutions so that impact on the business can
be managed. The project will include the aims and objectives are related to the security of the
computing system in the organization (Abomhara, 2015). Following are the aims and objectives
of this project:
Project aims: The project aim is related to the computer security for understanding the associated
vulnerabilities and threats on the systems used by the organization. The aim of this project is also
related to identify the ways for resolving the impact of the vulnerabilities with the effective
solutions. The aim is to carry out the successful execution of activities with the effective quality
through which required security can be managed and this project can be effectively implemented
(Dhingra and Verma, 2015).
Project objectives:
 The objective of the project is related to identify the computing devices usage in the DHL
and how the integrity, availability and confidentiality of the information is important for
organization

impact on the relationship of organization and its customers.

objectives and goals of this project can be achieved by the organization. The activities of the

components in this project are required to measure and monitor the network security issues

As per the requirement of the organization regarding this project the time of 6 months is decided
for completing this project. Apart from the 6 months, 1 month is also included as the margin so
that if any risk or time issues faced can be easily managed and overcome by the organization.
With the help of the time management they can change and recover the time risk management
(Martinelli and Milosevic, 2016).
Project quality
The quality of the project is one of the important stages which are required to be managed by the
project manager which is planned to manage and monitor the quality. On the other side, all type
of activities can be merged and also accomplished in this project so that they can check the
quality. Project quality can help the organization to deliver the high quality of the information.

They can use the telephone and mails for sharing the information which is related to the project.

The monitoring tools for security and network performance are provided for meeting the aims
and objectives of the project. On the other side, the additional hardware is required for the
authentication so that they can effectively manage the security performance of the organization
(Lock, 2017). Apart from hardware, software base is also required to ensure about the security on
the data usage. It is important for the organization to select the skilled and qualified employees
or experts who know everything about the computer system and IT (Information Technology).

P3 Work break down structure and Gantt chart
The main goal of the project management is to attain the three main goals of the organization
such as- time, scope and cost. If the designed project fails to achieve the aims because of some
constraints the computing project of the organization got affected. The whole project will be
divided and classified between various activities because through this organization can
effectively manage the performance of the project and manage the time and cost limitation
(Heagney, 2016). Following are the connected activities along with the sub-activities included in

Gantt chart: Gantt chart is mainly defines the time duration for each and every activity which is
mentioned in the work breakdown structure. The Gantt chart is always prepared and created after
WBS so that all the activities must be divided between their required time and duration. As it
will become clear with the help of the above Gantt chart that there are seven activities which are
divided within the six months as this duration is set as the completion period of the project. With
this WBS and Gantt chart, the project management team can effectively manage the performance
and time management of the project. This will help the organization to execute and implement
the plan within the specified time and costing.

P4. Carry out small-scale research by applying qualitative and quantitative research methods
Qualitative research on the selected project
The aims and objectives of this project can be achieved after conducting the small scale research
by the researcher as this help to get the conclusion of the research topic. As per the Marshall and
Rossman (2014), the internet enabled devices are used to connect the devices and then share the
information or data with each other in effective manner but in this some issues are associated
with the reliability of data and security of the data. Users within the network are more dependent
on computing devices just for the easy storage and data availability but with the poor security
and configuration which can reveal the information or data to any other network users within the
network.
As per the Davies and Hughes (2014), it has also justified that issues, threats and vulnerabilities
are also increased within the internet devices and this type of the cases it is very important for the
organization to protect their data breaches and data lost. It is also explained by the author that the
relationship of the business and its reputation can be affected due to the security issues because
this may disclose the important or confidential information of the organization. Unauthorized
access, malware and virus are also increasing because of the lack of the expertise those who can
effectively manage the resources utilization and data security.
For the data collection of gathering the researcher has used, books, journals, magazines and
literatures. On the other side, researcher has also used observation and interview process which is
used to enquire the data or details from the organizational employees. Following are some of the
related questions which are asked by the researcher on the status of the computing devices
security within the DHL organization:

 Have you faced any security problems or issues while using the computers and due to
which you may lost your important information or data?

Quantitative research method
Statistical data and primary from the business environment is important to understand the
impacts and issues in the clear manner. As per the Brannen, (2017), primary information or data
is easy to identify and map with the required goals and aims. It is also collected with the help of
the questionnaire survey and then it can effective analyze the way for decision making process.

This project has used the quantitative and qualitative research methods for enquires and gather
the information on the issue and problems related to the security which put impact on the devices
used by the organization. The qualitative research is very effective method because this has
provides some of the subjective data and information on the threats and issues which are
associated with the physical and logical resources of the organization. This is effective for the
organization to generate the key informants and proper information with these tools and
techniques. This is also reliable and faster for understanding the objectives and aims of the
research. The reliability and accuracy of the used research method is also effective because it is
based on the own observations and literature books (Csikszentmihalyi and Larson, 2014).
Sometimes it becomes complex process to convert the identified data or information into a
specific decision. On the other side, the researcher has used the quantitative method for this
research under which questionnaires and survey methods are used.
While comparing the observation, questionnaire and interview, it is identified that, questionnaire
method is most effective method for collecting the data from the non-technical and technical
users. This is also accurate and effective because of some constraints with the objective
questions. With the help of the questionnaire method they organization can get the useful
information with the statistical data that is very effective to identify the findings. The decision
making process through the quantitative data is accurate and easy (Bernard, 2017). The collected
data accuracy is very high but it is also complex for determining the user particular skills or
knowledge which is successfully contributed to the questions answers.

P5 Analyse research and data using appropriate tools and techniques
The DHL organization within this research has used hypothesis testing to analyze the qualitative
data on the other side, mean value and sampling are also used to get the quantitative research and
data. For example: hypothesis is used under which the computing system is also designed for
meeting the project aims and objectives. If the security of the data is not implemented by the
users then the computing project has not completed on time and within the provided resources. In
this research 30 respondents are selected as the sample size for this project and the respondents
are the employees who are working in the DHL organization. In this research mean value is used
for understanding the impact of the security issues (Bryman, 2016). Following is the research as

Every business organisation need to maintain the security of its important data and information
by physical as well as logical security equipments which are being recorded in their computer
system. Lack of proper security configuration and expertise to look after the computing devices,
vulnerabilities and security issues occur. Also In business organisation, devices functioning gets
affected by virus and other threat to its computing devices which fall impact on the operational
performance and growth of a business organisation because viruses and other threats impacting
the data security and functioning of the computer devices. So it is essential to manage data
security and protection of computing devices by implementing new rules and regulations to
access the systems of an organisation (White et. al, 2017). Business organisations have to
remove the vulnerabilities weaknesses of computer security which allows the attackers to harm
data and information.
DHL organisation is using different computing devices and technologies to maintain the relations
with suppliers and customers and improving the functioning and work performance of an
organisation.
There are following major recommendations and suggestions to an orgnisation after analysing
the vulnerabilities and threat to the security of computing devices:
Improper Authentication of Users: Because of improper authentication system of computing
devices, business organisations are facing the problem of vulnerabilities and other threats to data
and information (Patel and Panchal, 2017). It is recommended that there should be a proper
group management and security to access the systems of an organisation and only authenticate
users can access the data and computing devices. So the issue of vulnerability can be solved by
implementing the new rules and regulations to access the computing devices such as making
changes in both physical and logical security policies. For example, change in password policy,
improvement in camera and other security devices.
Data availability and accuracy through synchronization: It is important to have an accuracy and
availability of an organisational data and information so organisation should use cloud
computing and other services to synchronised and transfer data to different locations without

having the knowledge of users. Also organisation can transfer its issues and other security
problems on cloud service provider with the help of synchronisation of organisational data.
Encryption at core: Encryption refers to protecting data and information to access by
unauthorised users while converting or storing data and information into code. Organisation
should protect their data and information by using proper security measures because disclosure
of confidentially information and data may harm the operational performance and growth of an
organisation (Frederick, 2015). Also organisation should protect its information and data during
accidental disclosure and other vulnerabilities.

In sampling technique, When measuring a large data set or population, like a workforce, we
don’t always need to collect information from every member of that population, a sample does
the job just as well. The trick is to determine the right size for a sample to be accurate. Using
proportion and standard deviation methods, we are able to accurately determine the right sample
size we need to make data collection statistically significant. Mean method is also a good method
to provide accurate and authenticate data as data is analysed by dividing sum total of items (data)
with number of items (data). Both quantitative and qualitative methods are useful to analyse the
accuracy and authentication of data (Bernard, 2017).
Also personal observation and questionnaire methods are helpful to find out the accurate and
authenticate data. But sometime personal observation method is not as effective as it is costly
and consumes more time. In personal interview technique, interviewee can’t give accurate
answer as he/she lack proper knowledge (Spradley, 2016). Regression analysis is a related
technique to assess the relationship between an outcome variable and one or more risk factors or
confounding variables. Correlation method is used to quantify the association between two
continuous variables between an independent and independent variable and two independent
variables to analyse the accurate data. So there should be a combination of both quantitative and
qualitative tools to find out the accurate and authenticate data.
So organisation should select an appropriate technique to find out the accuracy and authenticity
of data. An organisation should opt that technique, which is easy to understand, find out best
result and consume less time then after organisation will able to improve its efficiency and
achieve target efficiently and effectively.

Value of undertaking the research
I have research that it is important to have updated and new system software to maintain privacy
and security of organisational data as it helps to record data in easy and proper way. Also I have
learned that time management and proper training to people is important to maintain the privacy
and protection of data. There are many tools and techniques which I have mentioned above to
analyse the accurate and authenticate data. But the best techniques are those techniques which
consume less time and give better result.
Own learning and performance
The organization should take effective measures to prevent data to go into the wrong hand while
transmitting the data from one place to another place. The organization should follow CIA triad
to protect data from different vulnerabilities and problems (Mohanty et.al, 2018). I have learned
that organization must take effective measures to protect the privacy of data to reach to wrong
people. There are also several methods to protect data from different vulnerabilities and
problems such as providing training and knowledge to people to secure organizational data in
different ways. After providing proper knowledge to people, organization can frame safeguard to
its data by familiarizing them with upcoming risk. DHL organization also follows the CIA triad
(Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability) to protect its data and information from different
vulnerabilities and problems. It mainly focused on CIA triad to frame safeguard for its data by
using both physical as well as logical security such as making strong passwords for computing
devices, installing cameras or appointing manpower as a security guard to protect the
areas/locations where computing devices are available.
In context of data protection integrity refers that there is no changes and alteration made in
organisational data while transmitting from one place to another place and from one hand to
another hand. It means there is an accuracy and consistency of data while transferring from one

person to another person and one location to another location. Backup data is one of the best or
easiest ways to restore data whenever it required.
It is also analyzed with this research that availability of the resources required to meet the
project's needs. In terms of data protection, availability means that there should be a proper
maintenance of computer hardware and system software to protect data from different
vulnerabilities. There should be proper updated software and computer devices to record and
store organisational data and information. The new and updated software help to restore data in
better way with more security or safety (Moghaddasi et.al, 2016).

Project Management process is an administrative process which includes planning, control and
coordination of resources or services and implementations of the project. This process helps in
planning, directing, controlling, coordinating and implementing the project work to achieve
desired goal. The project planning process connects all the other project activities together and
creates harmony in the project (Kerzner and Kerzner, 2017). Project management team have
proper understanding on project management process and techniques which they can use in
project. It also includes the leadership and supervision qualities which motivate the employees
towards the accomplishment organisational objectives. Management enhance the work efficiency
of employees by dividing the work among them and motivating them by offering rewards,
incentives and other non-monetary motives.
Project management team use various methods and techniques to increase the involvement of its
employees by allowing them to give suggestion and participation in decision making. It is
concluded that project management process helps an organisation to make planning, controlling,
directing and executive the whole project. Also it helps in time management and framing
different strategies to accomplish the project effectively and efficiently. At last, it is concluded
that the research and analyse of different vulnerabilities plays an important role in improving the
performance and growth of an organisation.

This report has concluded that computing project for DHL organization helps them to remove the
security issues and threats by implementing the logical and physical security resources. This
report has concluded that project management plan and its steps help the organization and project
manager to cover scope, cost and time required for this project. This computing project for the
organization is effective because this has identified the impact of the vulnerabilities on the
security performance of the organization along with the appropriate solutions to remove the
security issues. The report has also conducted the quantitative research in which questionnaire
survey is prepared for the selected sample size through which opinion of the respondents
regarding the security issues has found. It has concluded from the report that most of the people
are think that with the help of the proper security resources they can avoid the chances of
vulnerabilities and other threats on their computing devices.
