INTRODUCTION
Companies work with the assistance of their most significant resource that is employees.
Organizations understand the importance of employees in the workplace and form strategies so
that they could be retained in the workplace. Employees are called the precious asset of the
organization because they focus on achieving objectives of the company. So, it becomes
significant for companies to come up with strategies to motivate, encourage and empower
employees.
TASK A
Overview of the organization
The current project is dependent upon strategies of talent management considered by
companies for attracting and retaining workforce that is talented, qualifies and knowledgeable.
The chosen organization is ASOS works under clothing industry. It is a British online cosmetic
and fashion retailer founded in 3 June, 2000 Nick, Andrew, Quentin and Deborah. Company was
founded to primarily aim at young people and the headquarters is situated in London, England,
UK.
Aim and Objectives of the project
Project Aim: To develop the knowledge about the different talent strategies with the motive of
attracting and retaining best employees in the workplace. A study on ASOS
Project Objectives:
 To study different types of talent strategies for retaining and attracting employees in the
organization within ASOS
 To determine the impact of talent management strategies in driving performance and
success of workplace within ASOS
 To identify issues that occur while developing different type of strategies to attract and
retain employees within ASOS

Project Management Plan
Project management plan is made with the purpose of reaching definite results. Each and
every project has predefined objectives to achieve. In this particular plan particular deliverables
are identified that need to be performed in the certain time period. This plan assists in planning,
initiating and monitoring the whole project.
Resources
Resources are the things that focus on completing the project. It is developed and
communicated in the initiation stage of the project so that required activities could be done with
right amount of resources. Researcher has taken use of resources like books, publications,
magazines, articles etc. In this various communication channel is also used to transfer
information at right time.
Risk
It is generally defined as a negative factor that can affect project negatively. The project
manager tries to find any type of negative factor in advance before conducting any activity so
that it could be prevented. Researcher is always ready with backup plan so that if anything
happens negatively then another plan could be used.
Cost
Cost is defined as the expenditure that is required to carry out different activities of project. The
project manager needs appropriate amount of funds so that it could be located in different
activities. For this researcher has made budget by evaluating every activity and would need £600
for achieving objectives.
Quality
This is the component of project management plan that helps project manager to carry out every
activity in the great quality manner.
Work breakdown structure
It is the structure that is very effective in taking out activities and operations for supporting
project. This is the structure that simply breaks activities in small tasks for completing them in

short duration because smaller tasks are easier to complete. It puts same nature of activities in
one group and remaining activities in another.
Gantt chart
Gantt chart is one of the most useful charts because it has bars that divide activities with the
defined time period. The length of this particular chart defines the time duration of every task
and activity required for accomplishment.

Research Methodology
Research Philosophy
Research philosophy is defined as one of the important research methodologies that have specific
set of beliefs so that project could be based upon. Positivism and interpretivism philosophy are
the kinds of research philosophy. Project manager has selected positivism philosophy so that
numeric data could be evaluated (Arantes do Amaral and et. al., 2018).
Research Approach
Research approach refers to the method that has two types that are deductive and inductive. In
the current project investigator has selected deductive approach as it helps in informing the
decision going to carry out in data collection and analysis of the project. Another reason is it
supports number data to achieve objectives in short time.
Research Strategy
Research strategy refers to the step of collecting information by adopting different strategies. It is
being divided into different types that are grounded theory, case study, archival research,
experimental research, survey etc. Survey is chosen by project manager as it helps in recording
primary information from all those people who are selected as respondents (Ratnam, C., 2019).
Research Choice
Research choice is one of the significant methodologies in the current project. Qualitative and
quantitative are the two kinds of choices for the collection of information. Quantitative chosen

by project manager as it assists in collecting statistical information. Statistical information is
considered more appropriate, relevant and accurate.
Data Collection
Data collection is the method for collecting data from different types of sources. It is classified
into two main types that are primary and secondary data collection. These both types of methods
are used by project manager. Primary is used to take out that piece of information which is not
taken by anyone till now related to the study. For this survey is conducted in which people have
been asked their opinions and views. Secondary is considered to take out existing data in respect
of addressing gap related to the topic of present study. Books, journals, publications, newspapers
etc. are used to take out appropriate information.
Sampling
Sampling is defined as method of choosing participants from the given large number of
population. It is being divided into two major parts that are probability and non-probability
sampling. Probability sampling is considered by researcher because it assists in selecting
respondents randomly to ask questions and focus on achieving objectives of project. It also helps
in selecting large number of respondents without setting any criteria. 10 managers are selected as
participants from ASOS because they are the people who have contribution in forming talent
strategies.
SECONDARY INFORMATION
To study different types of talent strategies for retaining and attracting employees in the
organization within ASOS
According to Huq (2020), there are different types of talent strategies through which
company can retain and attract employees. These strategies help in increasing the morale and
motivation level of the Staff due to which they can attract and retain people.
Maintaining identity of individuals is one of the talent management strategies that help
in attracting and retaining employees. ASOS must maintain identify of their Staff members in
order to increase the efficiency and morale of Employees. As if they are recognised and
respected by the Employer, Workers can contribute their best in achieving the goals of business.
Flexibility is another strategy that can be used by ASOS for retaining and attracting
talented employees. The Workers wants flexibility in their work due to which they can take rest

and accomplish their personal work (Iles and Preece, 2016). The Company must focus on
developing flexible working hours so that staff get happy and satisfy with their work.
Training and development is an important strategy through which company can retain
and attract top talent. It is important for ASOS to organise training and development programs
for their employee in order to improve their performance and knowledge so that they can give
better output in Organisation.
Role design is also a strategy through which ASOS can attract and retain their workers. It
is necessary for talent manager to allocate the roles and responsibility according to the interest of
the employees so that they can work efficiently and effectively without facing any trouble or
problem in Organisation (Frost and Kalman, 2016).
To determine the impact of talent management strategies in driving performance and success of
workplace within ASOS
As per the viewpoint of Brouwer (2018), there are various impact of talent management
strategies in driving performance and success in Workplace. The talent management strategies
helps in increasing the performance of organisation by providing knowledge, recognising the
most talent staff and analysing the opportunities through which company can lead to success and
growth (Jooss, McDonnell and Burbach, 2019). The role of talent management in a Firm is to
focus on current employees and improve their performance in order to achieve higher position in
ASOS. The Strategies helps in saving the money of Organisation as it requires a lot of
investment to hire the best candidate and provide training and development to improve their
skills and knowledge. ASOS gain a positive impact by implementing the talent management
strategies as helps in increasing the satisfaction level of employees and also makes business
profitable.
To identify issues that occur while developing different type of strategies to attract and retain
employees within ASOS
As per the opinion of Kwei-Narh (2019), there are various issues occurs while developing
different type of strategies to attract and retain employees within ASOS these issues can create a
huge impact on the profitability and growth of business.
Time consuming activity is one of the issues which can be faced by ASOS while
developing strategies to attract and retain employees (Farndale and et. al., 2018). For developing
effective strategies of talent management, manager requires a lot of time in order to retain and

attract the Staff. The Strategies must include the activities through which Employees get satisfied
and needs get fulfilled.
Chaos among employees is another problem which can be faced by manager while
developing talent management strategies. The Talent manager must ask for the opinions and
feedbacks from the Staff so that they can make effective talent management strategies that helps
in attracting and retaining the employees.
Need of large amount of funds is also an issue which can be faced by manager while
framing talent management strategies in order to attract and retain workers. ASOS must require a
lot of investment in developing best talent management strategies through which they can make
their staff satisfied so that they remain committed towards the Organisation (Adebola, 2019).

be formed for the beneficial of organization in terms of human assets of company.

have answered that flexibility is another strategy of ASOS for retaining talented employees.
Another 3 respondents said that strategy is training and development in which employees are
given opportunity to improve their skills and gain new knowledge. The rest 2 respondents
answered role design is strategy where employees are given chance to form their job role.

could also work without talent strategies.

the benefits is superior and talented employees as company could get people who are highly
skilled. The other 2 respondents have answered that it decreases high employee turnover by
continuously motivating them by fulfilling their requirements. The other 4 respondents have
answered that it helps in increasing the productivity of company by employing workers in right

direction. The rest 1 respondent has said that it provides positive working environment because
employees are highly motivated towards their work.

that 3 participants have answered that one of the issues is chaos among employees because
employees feel that organization is showing biasness towards other employee. The other 4
respondents have answered that there is need of large number of amount for investing in
different strategies of talent management and the other 3 respondents have answered that it is
time consuming activity because managers have to invest time in understanding what type of
strategy is best for employee.
RECOMMENDATION
It is being recommended from the above information that company must focus on attracting
and retaining top talented employees in order to sustain in Market. As in Competitive Market,
organisations are focusing on highly skilled labour that have innovative, creativity and expertise
knowledge in the field of Market which helps in increasing the growth and productivity of
business. The talent manager of Company must know the strategies that can be effectively used
in order to attract and retain the employees. It is the responsibility of talent manager to identify
the right applicant and gives them a reason to join the Organisation. To attract and retain the
employees it is necessary to offer the right benefits according to their skills and knowledge it
helps in satisfying the needs of workers due to which they give their best efforts in making
business successful. The Company must pay compensation according to their performance in
order to reduce high turnover as it is the main reason people want to exit from Organisation.

Yes the project has been succeeded in its aims as it is conducted with a purpose to
identify the talent management strategies that helps in retaining and attracting employees
within Workplace.
How do you know? Specifically, please outline any evaluation and assessment
undertaken.
I know that the project is succeeded in its aims as I have collected all the information
from relevant and realisable sources due to which I am able to accomplish this project
efficiently and effectively.
The methods I used to obtain the information helped me in achieving every objective of
the research.
● What things do you think worked well and why? Evaluate all aspects of the project
(e.g. initial inception, project activities and project outcomes) from a range of
perspectives.
According to me the things which worked well is that I gain knowledge through which

my efficiency and performance also get enhanced. While accomplishing this project I
have faced many challenges that help in overcoming my weakness and improving
strength. The First step in the project was framing aim and objectives along with
formation of project management plan. For Conducting the project, a project
management plan is developed in order to gather all the resources which are required to
complete the project in appropriate manner. Through the project management plan I get a
proper direction to accomplish the project step wise.
Gantt chart was helpful and useful as through the chart I have easily divided activities
and tasks with the time period to complete them.
The Other one was research methodologies; the methodologies have helped me to select
right method according to my Project. With the methodologies I have analysed the data
which I have gathered. The primary data collected through questionnaire is shown in
tabular and graph format so that reader could understand it clearly.
● What problems emerged during the project and how were they tackled? Was there
timely identification of issues and resolution during the project process?
I had faced many problems while completing this project due to which sometime I get
distracted with the Project but I tried to overcome the problem in order to complete the
project in efficient and effective manner.
The problem which I faced was not able to select right and suitable secondary source for
collecting the information related to the topic of project.
The other issue which was faced is time management as I was unable to complete the
tasks at appropriate time.
The other problem which I faced is lack of communication with respondents while
interacting with them for gathering primary information.
The issues were tackled by communicating well with respondents and attending seminars
in order to manage the time.
My seniors and colleagues helped me by providing guidance for selecting best sources
for collecting secondary data.
● What did you learn from undertaking the project?

While accomplishing the project I have learnt many things that helps in improving the
performance, the project taught me that it is important to have a good communication and
time managing skills as it helps in improving the skills and professional growth.
I had also learnt about the working of ASOS which is the leading company in market.
● How would you rate your performance as project manager?
I would rate myself 9 out of 10 because I had tried my best efforts in completing the
project by collecting all the relevant sources that helps me in completing the project in
well mannered.
● What strengths and weaknesses of your performance did you identify?
My strengths include:
I am dedicated towards my work that helps in improving my concentration level due to
which I am able to gather the useful information and accomplish the project within
adequate time.
My weaknesses include:
I am unable to communicate with people effectively due to which I face many issues

From the above information it is being concluded that for running the business smoothly and

and retain the existing employees towards the company. The Company can become successful
when they have talented and expertise employees with highly skilled knowledge who can share

developing talent management strategies as it helps in attracting highly skilled employee and
retaining old Staff in order to improve the business performance and growth. The Talent
