Briefly describe your involvement in any socially responsible or sustainable
development activities.
I have been educated to protect our planet, and I’m always dedicated towards doing so.
My master thesis argues on the topic regarding how the elevated carbon dioxide (greenhouse
gas) affects the agriculture system. The research study concludes that the increased carbon
dioxide may increase insect damage. Elevated carbon dioxide made the defence system of the
plants pretty weak together with degrading the chemical nutrition of plant and consumption
of more leaves by the insects.
When I secured my job at Yao-Chi co., I realized that the company needs lots of paper
to document pest control record. Since the recording needs to be preserved for many years, I
proposed the process of digitalizing, such as developing an electronic signing app and
establishment of a cloud account. This move will be beneficial to the environment and the
company partly because the paper waste problem will be solved and the proof can be
preserved for many years without possibility of absence and damage.

After the completion of my compulsory military service, I secured employment at Yao Ji
Co, Ltd. It is small company where I was engaged for the work of pest control. Within my
two-years of employment at this company, I acquired quite rich experience from the
miscellaneous and toilsome tasks that I completed in my employment tenure. I started my
journey in the company as an operator, sales, and customer service staff at the same time, and
got engaged in many projects, starting from digitalizing the company system to managing the

fan pages. Within a year, I got promoted to the team leader and my responsibility included
charging the northern region of Taiwan. During the period, I streamlined our schedule and
helped my clients with the process of documentation thus enabling benefits to my company
towards lowering the turmoil of the transition process. I was furthermore given the
responsibility to bring new clients to my company. Ranging from the case of food processing
case to residential case I contributed the sum of revenue of one million for my company
within the years of my employment.
Meanwhile, I realized that the stagnation of the company comes from improper
management and the cut-down policy. Employers assume that they can get profit by simply
cutting wages. Unfortunately, the policy discourages the morale of the employees. Many
labours left the company with their clients. I assert that the company should pay more
attention towards improving revenue and establishing a sustainable model.
So, I want to pursue an MBA degree. By learning novelty theory and technique, I will be
able to optimize Taiwan’s industries. Through analytical tools, I can locate where the
customers are, realize what their interests are, and design contrivable products/service for
companies. On the other hand, the MBA program focuses on how to address issues without
introducing a new one. By doing so, I can provide the best solution for companies, solving
their ultimate problems.
After accomplishing my academic study, in a short-term goal, I hope to secure a job in a
consulting firm, where I can practice my knowledge to solve the problem of companies. As
my long-term goal, in five years, I hope to capitalize on the experience, gained from
academic and practice, to establish a consulting firm of my own to provide professional
concern to Taiwan’s enterprises. My goal is to assist with their growth, increase their
competitiveness, and compete globally, establishing a sustainable model.

Tell us about two achievements (one as a leader and one as a team member)
that you are most proud of, and why you feel that to be so.
I worked at Yao Ji Co, Ltd for two years. Since the company is small and the turnover
rate is high, I’m lucky to become a team leader from a team member.
As a team member, I provide my full effort to support my group. Once, because of
employee shortage, I was arranged to cover the area from Yilan to Taoyuan which is nearly
one-third of Taiwan. My supervisor was too busy to instruct me and he just gave me the
customers list and told me the deadline. So during the time, I had to work independently,
from scheduling the work to visiting the clients. Because there wasn’t so much detail
describing my clients’ problems, I spent much time towards familiarity of my clients. I was
even too busy to take a break and I often voluntarily work overtime. Eventually, I finished the
task without any supervision. I assert that the best value of a team member is not to bother
my supervisor and doing my best.
After the event, I got a promotion partly because of the resignation of many supervisors
and partly because of my contribution during the harsh period to the company. After I
became the team leader, I asked my members to document their clients thoroughly because of
the high turnover rate. Any of the members might take charge of others' work if necessary.
By reading the pest control record, the other operators can realize the problems and know
how to help our clients in a short time.
On the other hand, because our company distributes business survey from time to time, I
asked my members to schedule their work loosely to face abruptly business need. Therefore,
they could be flexible to deal with their work. I’m glad those rules indeed help my company
to work smoothly and to deal with the resignation of employees, even when I graduated from

the company the model still worked so well. I think the best value for a leader is to realize the
problems, address them, and establish a workable model to fix them for good.
Share with us a situation where you faced adversity. Describe how you
resolved/managed it and what you learned from the experience.
I firmly believe that the adversity is highly valuable. Every single conflict is a treasure
because I can learn from this experience. Through conquering problems, I can gain a new
skill, priceless knowledge, and a strong personality to work under pressure, equipping how to
deal with similar issues next time.
During the position of a pest control operator, I went through many obstacles. And the
most serious one was dissatisfaction from our customers that the sanitary environment didn’t
improve. When I was assigned to the Northern area of Taiwan, many clients in the
department stores complained about the rage of rats. A few of them are too dissatisfied to
terminate our contracts. And the main reason is that many rats are immune to our company’s
poisonous bait because of unpalatability. To solve the problems, I tried to make a new bait,
making nuts─ the favorite food of rats─soak up pesticide. Fortunately, the rats that previously
immune to the old-version bait consume my novelty one, eventually, resulting in the
dropping of rat population. Afterward, I suggest my company to explore different kinds of
lures in case that the rats don't take the baits. And my company is pleased to use this bait as
an alternative if the original one doesn’t work.
From this experience, I learn we should have many solutions to deal with problems. We
shouldn’t expect that the usual way may always affect. If we can explore the other solutions,
such as plan B or plan C, fortunately, when the original plan doesn’t work, we still have the
other back-up plans to address the problems. So it’s better to update ourselves and seek more

possibilities. It is thus essential to optimize the business plan and systems to face various
challenges.

For one thing, I assured my background is so different from the other classmates. I am
educated from a biology background and represent the employees from a small company. In
the future the subject of the biotechnology must be put in the spotlight with the increasing of
the disease clad aged population. Indeed, many biotech stocks’ price is surging. If there is any
chance to discuss the topic, I can provide my professional thought related to biology context.
As an employee from a small company, I’m trained to be versatile, serving different
roles by our own, such as sales, operators, customer service staff, or any job for fixing the
problems. I helped my company to establish its website and app that are used to document
pest control record. I think those experience and capability are essential in your school which
emphasizes students from various positions.
And to be practical, I can help my school to document any action if necessary. I have
lots of visual design experience. Since I was an undergraduate, I was in charge of various
image projects and started to explore my talent in photography. I even worked in the studio
