Introduction
Change management helps in easing the transitions of an organization. It helps the employees
of an organization to understand, accept, commit and embrace the changes in the current
operations and environment of the business. This paper sheds a light on the current state of
Adult Day Care for Seniors, an organization that provides day care to the senior citizens of
the country in Australia and the necessary changes that are being implemented for the well-
being of the adults as well as the organization.
Discussion
Current state of Adult Day Care and the vision of the future state
Adult Day Care is basically an option for the elderly people that allow them to be cared in
daytime facility. This organization provides cognitive stimulation, medical services, meals
and other facilities that elder people need in their daily lives. These services have helped
many elderly people especially the ones who live alone in Australia with proper nursing care,
other facilities like insurance, medical equipment facilities and medical services however
there is a lack of health professionals like doctors and physiotherapists in the day care and
most of them are looked after and supervised by the nurse (Campbell et al., 2016). The other
challenge that the day care is facing that it is not being able to fulfill their overall goal that is
to make the old people happy as the growing mental issues like depression and isolation of
the elder people are growing in Australia (Hornstein, 2015). Adult Day Care needs to make
certain changes in their services to achieve the overall goal of the organization however this
may bring challenges of increase in budget and few staffs being able to handle and extra
services to the elders who avail their services.

Initiatives to overcome challenges
Adult Day Care is mostly taken care by efficient nurses however there are not always
efficient in handling emergencies. There are many challenges that senior adults face like
inability to walk which need medical attention and daily care. This hinders the overall growth
of the organization and thus needs to come up with initiatives that will help in the overall
development of the old people and the organization. The organization needs to include
general physicians and other health professionals like physiotherapist that can take care of the
patients with their physical problems (Foronda, MacWilliams & McArthur, 2016). The
organization should include psychiatrists and counselors who can take care of the mental
problems that contribute to the physical health (Landeiro et al., 2017). Adult Day Care should
not only take care but create a sense of belonging among them with interactive programs of
other old people in the day care so that they do not isolate themselves and lead a healthy and
a happy life.
Challenges of the initiative
The initiatives proposed will bring certain challenges in the budget and in the operations of
the employees mainly. The organization needs to assess and overcome these problems in
order to ensure the effective changes. In order to successfully do that the organization needs
to implement the nudge theory.
According to the nudge theory, it is important for organizations to understand how people
react to the changes and think and make decisions accordingly in order to manage all sorts of
change (Vlaev et al., 2016). The first objective of the theory is to define the changes clearly;
the next step is to consider the changes from the point of view of the employees (Vlaev et al.,
2016). Adult Day Care needs make people understand the objective of the changes and need
to recruit more people for the smooth operations so that the existing employees do not get

work pressure that will be detrimental for the employees, old people as well as the
organization. The next step is to provide evidence that the change they are considering is the
best option (Vlaev et al., 2016). The organization needs to understand as they need to invest
more money for the changes and understand that the investment will be beneficial for both
the organization as well as the employees. The organization needs to present the changes as
an option or a choice to the management and employees. The next step is to limit the
obstacles by considering the necessary feedback by the management and the employees and
make changes accordingly so that there are obstacles that can be managed easily (Watts,
2018). The last step is to maintain short term wins and here the organization needs to make
short term goals and achieve them like the introduction of health professionals,
physiotherapists and counselors that will help in being successful at the short term goals that
will eventually lead in the overall development and in achieving the long term goals of the
organization.
Conclusion
Adult Day Care for Seniors has been successful in Australia and had been catering to the
needs of the elderly people efficiently. However there were certain challenges that the
organization was facing that needed a change for the development and to provide premium
services to the elders in the country. Effective changes in the operations and the business
environment were needed in order to achieve the goals of the organization that was to take
care of the needs, make them happy and in the overall development of the elders in Australia.
