INTRODUCTIONCreativity, design and innovation are the main pillars of a business. These factors whenintroduced into business functioning help an organisation to operate in the market for longerduration (Andriopoulos and Lewis, 2010). Innovation and creativity are terms which relate toeach other and often used interchangeably. Creativity is defined to be identifying ways in whichexisting products can be utilised or undertakes new product development Innovation undertakesideal creativity plus its implementation to come up with a product which is capable for satisfyingthe needs of consumers. Design on the other hand aims to identify manner in which a productcan be carried out in market. It is a decision making process which transforms an idea into atangible product. This assignment aims to analyse the key concepts and measures in whichcreativity of an individual or organisation can be enhanced. The role played by innovation, creativity and design in an organisation will be discussed in the report.TASKCreativity is defined to be a measure to overcome the existing problems in company in anunprecedented manner. It can be a source to provide competitive advantage to an organisation.Dynamism in the operating market can be successfully countered with utilisation of creativity inbusiness functioning (Bettiol, Di Maria and Grandinetti, 2012). In layman terms, it can bedefined to be the production of ideas which are useful to individual as well as business. It has tobe appropriate and applicable to current circumstances so that it can reap benefits to theindividuals. Thehumanistic theory of creativityby Abraham Maslow defines that creativity of aperson states his ability for growth. It is crucial for an individual to attain growth andadaptability in the operating environment. Creativity in this theory is defined into threecategories i.e. primary, secondary and integrated levels.Primary creativity: These refer to the impulses received by an individual. This is therawest form of an idea. Cognitive and co-native process are paid with attention in this category.Secondary creativity: Secondary creativity results from thought. The idea whichoriginated in primary is thought upon and hard work is put so that it can result into somethingbeneficial.1
Integrated creativity: this is most reformed category of all. The creativity in this categoryis an association of primary and secondary creativity mentioned above. This creativity fulfilsself-actualisation needs of an individual in the hierarchy. The above defined theory can be linked with the practices I adopted in performing myoperations. Creativity is defined as the cognitive process which means it is related to mentalprocess and perception of an individual (Dell'Era and Verganti, 2010). While I was working on aproject with a group of other members, I identified an idea which can be utilised in taskaccomplishment. But the idea was at primary stage which meant that it required a lot of hardwork and dedication. I happened to work on a measure through which mobile featurefunctionality can be redefined. I proposed the idea of mobile phones can be utilised as a projectorscreen. The idea was raw form similar to primary stage described in creativity theory. This idearequires lot of research, hard work and dedication by me so that it can be made real.Idea proposed by me was appreciated by management and provided with resources tofulfil the same. It was evident that this functionality in smartphones will redefine the manner inwhich handsets will be used in market. But this idea required hard work and dedication to turnthis into a reality. It fits into definition of creativity because this concept was not undertaken byany of the rival companies present market. Maslow defined the last category similar to fifthstage of hierarchy which is of self-actualisation needs of an individual. Creativity is a componentof topmost needs of individuals which define the purpose of their existence (Dodgson, Gann andPhillips, 2013). This concept is to be undertaken with a lot of dedication to be launched in themarket in next first quarter of next year.2
