TASK 1How to reference and site sources correctlyReferencing refers to the procedure of acknowledging the sources which has been usedby the writer. It is very important to reference and cite the sources correctly while writing areport because if there is an error in this function than this may result in inappropriate report. Itallows the observer to verify the documents quickly and easily (How to reference and citesources, 2018). These sources should be chosen from specific websites and also take a look thatall of them are right or not. This may help to leave a good impression on the observer of theassignment. Sometimes the researcher do not include right sources and choose such sources thatare not relevant to their report this may reduce the effectiveness of assignment. If the link is verylong than this may be shorten by the writer but shortening should be done effectively so thatimportant information wont get missed which has been provided by original link. It is essential toprovide the name of government body or university who are related to the source. If the information written in the report has been collected by personal interview than itshould be addressed as personal communication the assignment. It can be in texted as Mr. Abc,pers. comm. Before using this method the researchers should ensure that they have permissionsfrom their contact person with whom they have communicated this will help the observer toanalyse that original and transparent information is recorded in the report (Biggam, 2015).Pictures, maps and images that are shown in the assignment should also be cited like allthe other sources. To reference and cite the sources correctly it is vital to note down the name of author,title of journal or article, date, other publication details that are related to the sources that areused while preparing the report. Appropriate referencing from established work of experts andauthorities can help to create an assignment which is accurate and presenting right information.While recording information in the assignment the write should ignore plagiarism that occurwhile pasting information direct from websites. own words while paraphrasing a text of author. While paraphrasing the writers are suggested tosite original sources of data that is recorded in assignment. Proper referencing and citations helpto add credibility to the work and provide evidences to support arguments and comments. Thereare various type of references styles such as APA, Harward, MLA, Chiocago and AMA, that areused by the students. APA style is mostly used while studying a topic related to social science,MLA is used for liberal arts and humanities and AMA is used for medical research. The studentsshould determine that what type of references are required for their report so that it can beprepared appropriately (Mostaghimi and Boulos, 2015). It is also important while referencing to identify the author and title for each source sothat detailed information can be provided to the observers. Nest step is to write the informationabout the publication of that journal or article which has been chosen as a source for the report. Ifwriters are willing to add any online source than actual URL should be copied from website andthan add it to the references. Writer should click the link after recording to check that it isactually opening or not and to assure that right URL is added to the references. Students should in text the sources in bracket in the paraphrased material. It is suggestedto them that they should cite immediately right after paraphrasing so that right source can beadded to assignment. If Chicago style has been chosen for citation than a foot note should beinserted in the report that includes same information as bibliography citation with differentgrouping. To ignore plagiarism in writing citing right sources is very important.
