INTRODUCTION There are several different sectors present in the market that provides a wide range of different products and services to the customers. Out of all these different sectors, the sector health and social care is only one which entirely concentrates on the quality of services that it provides to the service users. The primary motive of every health and social care organization is to provide high quality services to the patients and other service users so as to ensure that the health of patients does not get affected. The following assignment discusses about the different aspects that are allied to the recruitment of people within a health and social care organization like âBernash Care Homeâ. This care home belongs to the sector of health and social care and the status of organization is private nursing home. Bernash Care Home is situated in Bristol, UK and it serves the patients with high quality services and health care treatments. The department of Human Resource Management of Bernash Care Home utilizes different ways to recruit workers for the association. The human resources that are hired in this sector must possess high skills and knowledge regarding the sector, because in this sector the life of people are involved and no organization can take any kind of risk regarding that. There are several different factors such as operational factors and strategic factors that are needed to be considered while developing plans for the recruitment of an individual in an organization (Alharbi, et al. 2017). From the case of Bernash Care Home it can be analyzed that the organization wants to hire health care practitioners for the post of nurses and care takers within the organization. Thus, there is an assortment of different factors that can be considered. The basic and most important factor that is needed to be considered for the hiring of an individual in a health care organization is that there must not be any biasing during the recruitment process. Every candidate must be judged fairly and the decisions must be taken in favor of the most appropriate candidate for the post. These governmental rules and laws are as follows: EQUALITY ACT (2010) According to the equality act, 2010 every individual within a workplace must be treated equally, and the senior staff of the company must not do any discrimination between the employees on the basis of any factor such as; age, sex, race, disability, etc. (Anderson, et al. 2017). DATA PROTECTION ACT (1998) The department of Human Resource Management must ensure that all the information of the employees working in an organization must be kept confidential and it should not be leaked among the public. It becomes highly difficult for the HRM department of an organization like Bernash Care Home to adopt different approaches that may be used to hire and recruit employees within the association. The sector of health and social care is very sensitive and it requires highly skilled human resources to work within. The HR manager of the Bernash Care Home along with the other team members from the HRM department utilizes different approaches of recruitment. Out of all these approaches, the approach of personal interview is the mostly used one. In this approach, the interview panel is formed and this panel asks several questions to the candidate directly. The candidate who gives maximum number of correct answers with right approach, then that candidate gets selected. Other than this, the HR manager of the Bernash Care Home also takes personality tests as well as practical examinations of the candidates, so as to analyze their level of practical skills and knowledge regarding the health and social care sector. TASK 2 AC 2.1 EXPLAIN THEORIES OF HOW INDIVIDUALS INTERACT IN GROUPS, PARTICULARLY FOCUSING ON TEAMS THAT WORK IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE The sector of health and social care requires individuals to work in teams, so as to successfully achieve all the aims and objectives of the organization. The health care practitioners that are hired in an organization like Bernash Care Home needs to effectively work in team in order to provide high quality services to the service users of the care home. There are several theories and models that are developed by the researchers to show effectiveness of team working. In order to comprehend about the team formation within the health and social care sector, the Tuckmanâs model of team development can be taken into consideration. The five stages of Tuckmanâs models are as follows: FORMING In this stage the interaction of team members take place for the first time and the ground rules of the teams are established by the team leaders (Brett, 2014). STORMING In this stage, the level of communication between the team members gets started, but the effectiveness of team working is very low in this stage. The team leaders do not have all the controls on the team members (Cameron, 2014). This theory of leader also depicts that a leader must have positive mindset as well as strong personality so as to achieve all the assigned tasks and projects of the workplace successfully under the desired deadlines. The role of leaders and managers of the organization is very vital as well as important for the management of working teams effectively (Reeves, et al. 2011). The leaders of the organization must develop self-awareness by demonstrating their personal traits and qualities so as to effectively interact with the team members of the organization. These different management approaches have positively influenced my development as a successful HR manager of the organization. I got the opportunity of learning about the different leadership theories that can be followed by the leaders of an organization to effectively manage the working teams of the organizations at health and social care sector. From my personal experiences within the Bernash Care Home, I can say that if the management approach becomes autocratic in nature, then it may lead to the generation of several negative consequences among the organizationâs human resources (Truss, et al. 2013). Further, I also came to learn about the two major concepts that are required to successfully manage an organization in the health and social care sector. These two concepts are; team working and leadership. This, in this way the different management approaches that I have learned have positively influenced my own development as a HR manager of the Bernash Care Home in the health and social care sector. 12
