1MANAGING INFORMATION SYSTEMS ExplainthebenefitsandthevulnerabilitiesassociatedwithFingerprint recognition The benefits of fingerprint recognition are to reduce possibility of theft of identity by using RFID badge and other identification method for accessing a secured area. The biometric fingerprintsystemwillimproveoversecurityaswellaseffectivenessofthecompany. Fingerprint is such a system which can provide reliable way for tracking the employees and do not storage of extra data as the system only needs the fingerprint. The employees are not required to keep cards and passwords safe. The benefit of this recognition system is that it provides ability to detect the individuals out of millions of the fingerprints precisely. Prasadet al.(2018) stated that other biometric systems have higher risk of security breaches caused errors from the employee’s side. This system provides additional security as the criminals are not able to fake a fingerprint easily. There is no mismatching of fingerprints and there is not possibility to forget the fingerprint. The system can save money on using of hardware as well as cost of materials. Upgradation of the system is come in method of the software based upgrades. The vulnerabilities of fingerprint recognition are that using this system is not taking considerations when the person is physically changed as it can capture an accurate image of finger. The fingerprint scanner can lead to false rejections when it is not able to read the fingerprint accurately (Ogbanufe & Kim, 2018). It is prone to errors as it can read one section of the individual’s finger. Therefore, manual repositioning of the finger to become access and correct reading is a period consuming process.
