Discuss the value and importance of employee induction in the modern
workplace
INTRODUCTION
An induction programme is defined as process which is used within organisations for on
boarding new hires within the company. It helps in familiarising with new role and company
culture. A good induction programme helps a student for identifying the terms and conditions for
a company (Çiftçi and Daloğlu, 2021). It includes brief analysis of working us, holiday
entitlement and leave applications, expense claims and many more such things. There is proper
guidance provided about practise, company policies and objectives which are followed within
workplace.
MAIN BODY
A good induction programme includes details about organisational hierarchy and structure. It is
also conveyed that what is job description regarding the key responsibilities and duties that new
employees have to follow (Graddick, 2018). There is a brief introduction to different
departments of the company so that new employees can know where to go for the work. It is a
short guided tour of office space and setting up of login and payroll details is also done on
employee induction day. There is information told about setting up of new higher workstation
which includes name plate phone, computer, software downloads and tools which are required
for conducting the job role. There are few introductions about key members of the company.
Moreover, there is detailed information about benefits, incentives and appraisals. All new
employees are provided contact details of their reporting managers and teams. When a company
designs new hire induction programme the main focus is to set employees up for success and
share them the most important things that have to be prioritised while managing companies
function. It provides help in managing the employees comfort at workplace.
Induction programme is ideal time for making good impression with new hire and building trust
and alignment with expectations of company. Companies share their vision common norms and
values with new employees (Hollweck, 2017). This programme is set for tone in which company
culture is managed a new higher up and running a process can be followed by them to be
