Technology has changed the working style of many business organisation. Nowadays,
companies understand that if they will use latests technology in their organisation then it will
help them in attaining their goals in an effective way. Digital technology is used for transferring
the data from one place to other in less time and without losing any significant information
(Baiden and Price, 2011). Technically, binary code are involve in this process, they can convert
an information into words of images. The Queensberry Hotel is running their business in
hospitality sector, they are present in London,UK. This assignment will discuss about aims and
objectives of the project, they are related to modifying the current technology which mentioned
enterprise is using. Work breakdown structure and Gantt chart will also become part of this file.
Quantitative and Qualitative methods of research will be included in this file. Various tools of
conducting research will get cover under this report. A project management plan will be
explained, it will focus on aspects like cost, risk, time etc. Some recommendations will be given
in the end along with the reflection.

P1 Aim and objectives
Some organisation may think that adopting latest technology like digitalisation is an
option for them but in reality they have to make necessary modifications in their business
because the enterprise, who have adopted new technology, have competitive advantages on their
rivals. For a small organisation like The Queensberry Hotel, spending money on digitalisation
could be bit difficult because they have limited resource if they will invest their money in right
areas like, buying equipment which can be used for reducing the overall cost of the business,
then this will help them in long run (Bakker and et. al., 2011). Digitalisation is the process of
conversion of information in digital format. This help in better representation and analysation of
the content. If manager of cited hotel will have use this technology then it will assist them in
recoding more data and fast travelling of information. It will expand their business because
currently, they are not using technology like cloud computing. If they will adopt these kind of
technologies then they can easily store more data about their clients and other vital information
which is present in the industry.

Companies in this business world understand that there are basically two ways of
maximising profit, one is to reduce the cost of business and other is increase the sales. Digital
technology helps a corporation in accomplishing both of these activities in single time.
Technology like Cloud computing reduces the cost of storing data, while online booking and
advertisement increases the market of the company (Basu, 2014). The concept of digitalisation
was suggested by a German mathematician in seventeenth century. Binary code was the next
development which happened in this field. Before 1980, telecommunication was popular for
transmission but after this, the era of fiber optics started. Direct broadcast satellite was one of the
addition in digital technology. The Queensberry Hotel is 3 star hotel and they are known for their
quality services at low price. Their restaurant is also very famous and they offer variety of food.
This organisation is using some old technology but they need a rapid transformation but adopting
new digital technology like Cloud computing.
Aim – To identify the impact of digital technology on the business growth.
Objectives

 To examine the modifications needed in the company
 To find the role of digital technology in transmission of information.

P2 Project management plan
Plans are made for arranging various activities, which has to done in the accomplishing a
task, in a proper steps. Planning reduces the fear of uncertainty and minimises the wastage of
resources. A plan will also cover various components like cost, risk, resources etc. Following is
their explanation:
Scope of project – This project will identify all the needs relating to up-gradation of
technology in The Queensberry Hotel. It will find to analyse the changes which can be done by
manager of the enterprise so they can reduce their cost of business and transmit and record data

in effective manner (Chang, Walters and Wills, 2013). Areas like designing of hotel, job
satisfaction to the employees will not become part of this research.
Risk management – Digitalisation is a difficult process because present employees do not
have training about how to use technology like Cloud computing. They cannot work on latest
soft-wares. If manager of cited hotel will force their workers to learn something new then they
may deny it or leave the job. This kind of risk can be managed by providing training to the
workers and giving them extra monetary benefits. This risk is integral part in modification of any
business. Some risks are associated with research also, at the time of conducting primary
research participant may provide wrong information (Doherty, Ashurst and Peppard, 2012). If
wrong information will be recorded and analysed then the research will get useless. Magnitude
of risk is high in this case because they some participants may not involve in the process of
research. By checking background of participants, this risk can be minimised.
Quality control – Doing high quality of research involve formation and analysation of
various graphs and charts. Graphs, histogram, pie charts etc. will be made for assuring good
quality of work. At the time of digitalisation, managers of the company has to assure that they
buy latest equipment and install modern software. Monitoring of researchers work should be
done on continuous basis so the mistakes which they are committing can be rectified at the point
of its generation (Eskerod and Huemann, 2013).
Cost – The expenses of conducting the researcher will cost around 250 pounds. This is
not a big sum for cited Hotel and they easily afford it. Besides this, the cost of bringing changes
in the company i.e. relating to digitalisation will be around 2000 pounds. Purchasing of new soft-
wares is bit expenses and cited enterprises also have to pay money to the trainer who will
provide training to the employees.
Time – Setting a time limit for every work is importance, it bring positive pressure on the
people who are going to work on an specific task. The time taken for completing the research
will be 45 days, if everything go according to the plan, and the spend of making introducing
digitalisation in the company would be 6 months. If things are done in right time then they
customer will get better service and cited firm will earn more revenue (Gustafson, 2012).
Communication – The researcher has to communicate with various people for at the time
of conducting researcher. Manager of the hotel also have to make a clear conversation to the
employees about digitalisation in the organisation (Jeston and Nelis, 2014).

P3 Work breakdown structure and Gantt chart
Total 7 tasks are needed to be performed for completing this project in an effective way. The
selection of topic will take 7 days and setting aims and objectives will cost around 3 days. The
task of literature review will be completed in 6 days and research methodologies will take 5
days. Analysation of data is an important task and it will be done in 10 days. Concluding the
report will be done in 4 days and the submission of report only take 1 day. Their are two path of

accomplishing this work, one will take 30 days and other one will cost 26 days. The second
option will be chosen by the researcher in order to complete the work in less time.

To conduct a research in an appropriate manner, company will utilize some techniques as well as
tools as this is much advantageous for them (Rosemann and vom Brocke, 2015). By utilizing
them, evaluation can be done in an effective way. This will assist an employer to take an
adequate decision. Therefore, there are two methodologies which is associated with research are
stated as beneath:

appropriate way. As a result, it will help them to take decision which is beneficial for them. The

provide them some extra edge over their competitors. The tools and techniques which will be
used in modifying business will provide different kind of benefits to them (Saunders and Lewis,
2012). If a company rapidly adopt the changes which are happening in the business environment
then they can easily survive in the market and register huge profit for a long period of time.
Using digital technology in the business is essential, it reduces the risk of getting outdates
and make a positive impact on the profits of the company. Positive outcomes can be ascertained
by adopting digital technology, the data can be stored securely and the information can travel in

P7 Reflection
From the above report I got to know that how digitalization helps The Queens berry
Hotel in increasing its scale of operations supported with advancement in the quality standards. It
is an effective mode which assist in better customer interaction and getting their feedbacks on the
services provided to them. If more time were given to collect the information than deeper
analysis of change would have done which may be useful in understanding the concept in a more
effective way (Rosemann and vom Brocke, 2015). Apart from this the sample size which was
taken together data was of 20 which is very small and making assumptions on the basis of this
much data may not be true at a wider organization context. Resources which were provided to
conduct the report were less and were insufficient to meet all the criteria to their full extent.
Another challenge which was faced during the above study was that while questionnaire was
framed limited questions were provided which further restricts communicator to clearly express
on the subject matter. Also the answers could be biased due to disinterest of the respondents in
the topic which will have a direct impact on the quality of results that are finally presented before
the report user.
CONCLUSION
At the end, it can be concluded that managing a successful business is not an easy task.
With changing technology, organisation has to think about improving their working style by
using various kind of new technology. Digitisation is significant for small firms and by
conducting a good research, they make variation in their business. Gantt chart and pie chart help
in better understanding of the information.
