attain aims and objectives of organization effectively (LaVoi and Haley, 2021). By emphasizing
business helps in raising organization productivity. The report is based on Mark and Spencer
company, that is situated in UK and provide varieties of services to customer by satisfying their
needs and preferences in desired manner. It is a retailer company that driven various product
such as cloths and other products that make their goods to attain more and more customer in
desired manner. In this determine both framework SWOT and PESTEL that helps business to
run in productive way and emphasize their role. Further, their influences is study and emphasize
leadership style that plays key role in function of management. Also, study corporate social
responsibility that plays key role in organization by determining their role.
Swot analysis
Swot analysis is used to find out internal environment of the company. It has four elements
which are as follows:
strength-
branding of the company is the biggest strength (Lamas Leite and et.al., 2017). They sell high
vale products by targeting premium range of customers. Marks and Spenser produce clothes
which is sophisticated and fashionable and stylish and it helps in attracting large number of
customers. Company sell premium products and the products has labels on that which helps
company in making familiar to the customers with brand. When customer again and again see
label then it helps company in retaining their customers for longer period. Innovation is also the
strength of the company. They have R&D team which helps company in launching innovative
products in the market. Company have diverse workforce which help them in giving creative
ideas so that company can grow. Company provides equal opportunities to their employees and
do not discriminate on the basis of religion, age, gender, colour, race etc. this has also helped
company in improving their image in the market.
Weaknesses-
they are not able enough to penetrate in the global market successfully. Company have its
presence across the globe but they are primarily present in UK, US and Europe. Marks and
Spenser have failed in gulf countries and various Asian countries because they focus on western
designs only (Schuetz, Mair and Schrefl, 2018). There are many customers of the company who

are not satisfied with the return policy of the company. Due to this thing company is losing their
potential customers.
Opportunities-
with the change in era it can be seen that fashion is evolving and every day new customers is
joining company. There are various Asian countries where there is demand of traditional wear so
company can grab this opportunity and manufacture traditional clothes which they can sell.
Technology is also opportunity for the company. With the help of technology company can
easily promote their products and increase their customer base. Social media is the best way
through which company can do advertisement as it is less expensive also. Although marks and
Spenser have online presence but they do not have good position in the online industry as
Amazon have. E-commerce is the future so company have opportunity to grow in e-commerce
industry and increase their online sales.
Threats-
competition is the biggest threat for the company (Yoman, 2021). As there are lot of competition
in the market like Zara, H&M etc. which can decrease customer base of marks and Spenser by
manufacturing innovative goods in the market. If company will not make modification in the
industry in regards of their strategy then they will soon loss their existence from the market.
Pestle analysis
This framework helps in ascertaining the external environment of the company on which
company have less control.
Political factors-
free trade is introduced in various countries which is helping marks and Spenser in expanding
their business in various countries easily. When company sells their products in many locations
then it helps them in increasing their profits and getting higher revenue. Although the decision of
Brexit has impacted company because now it has become difficult for the company to get low
cost labour from EU.
Economic factors-
it has observed that there are various new companies in the market which are producing products
of low price and they are stealing the market share of premium price products like marks and
Spenser. Competitors are providing same products at low prices which are reducing sales of

company. There are those type of customers also which preferred in purchasing from local store
hence reducing the sale of premium prised products.
Social factors-
marks and Spenser is not the new company in UK almost every generation have heard this name
and this has contributing in increasing the level of trust within the customers (Matovic, 2020).
There are many trendy clothes brand which is coming in market these days and they are stealing
market share of the company especially young people are purchasing from trendy companies
because they provide innovative designs. In order to retain the customers it is important that
company should have manufacture those goods in the market which is highly preferred by
today's generation.
Technology factors-
technology has helped company in implementing self checkout option. There are many food
brands like marks and Spenser are using this facility so that customer can get convenience in
checkout and it also saves time of company and customers. It is also helpful in saving cost of
company because now they longer required to keep cashier at stores. With the help of
technology company is able to sell their products online (Pan, Chen and Zhan, 2019). This is
helping marks and Spenser in getting online sales along with offline sales. By having online
presence company can increase their brand value and target those customers which prefer online
shopping only. When customer will do shopping online then they can easily compare products
and purchase those items which comes in their budget. Although they do not deliver food
products online. Company should have start doing this delivery because it will help company it
generating higher revenue from good sector also.
Legal factors-
this factor include laws and regulations. In the countries where marks and Spenser are operating
are having flexible laws which is helping company in operating their business easily.
Government is supporting company by making easy regulations because company is providing
employment opportunities to their local people. Flexibility in the legal policies and laws are
essential because it helps company in surviving for longer period in the market.
Environmental factors-
marks and Spenser have achieved to become sustainable retailer. Company have started using
renewable sources of energy because fossil fuel is the scarce resources and also by using

renewable sources will help in decreasing pollution (Tseng and Pilcher, 2021). Fair trade policy
is also encouraging in getting environment benefits by the company. Company also have started
campaign which focus on protecting environment.

come under this, that influence their business and decreases profitability of business. Also,
address strength that neglects threats and weakness which influence opportunities. Through by

way as a society benefits and make the brand image. Mark& Spencer Corporate social
responsibilities taken towards their customers, employees, personnel, etc. who so ever is
connected with the company they have take responsibilities of them. Company have taken all the
essential key factor that would be considered into the business taking (Bian, Liao, Wang, Y.Y.
and Tao, 2021).
There are four types of corporate social responsibilities in the business that should be carried
out.
M&S has always considered the importance of their customers and efforts that employee give to
the company for the betterment of the company.
Environmental factor: it is the essential factor for the company to taken because the carbon
footprint that increases because of the company. If company uses any steps in regard to reduce it
therefore this factor includes in the corporate social responsibilities, environmental factor.
M&S work on a five-year eco plan to help the customer and supplier in regard to decrease the
emission the plan include the decrease in the power store's energy by 25% with the help of green
electricity which can be stored. Organization also commit that they will buy as much as product
from the country itself for the betterment of the country and company as well.
Philanthropy: this factor includes the thing which can be donated by the organization this can
be food, clothes, products, services etc. M&S also done charity and donation to the new life
company donate the returned clothes to them. Company also donate the business surplus and
money raised from the recycling garments directly funded to the children and in NGO for the
betterment of them. M&S is large which has a lot of option and things to donate or charity with
that company help a lot of people specially the children and for the enhancement of their lives
by giving the funds and set the education fo0r the future benefits of the young generation.
Ethical labour practice: company can do this CSR factor by treat their employee of the
company well. As the company is growing and it's important for them to maintain and motivate

their team very well for the well-being of the company (Barnett, Henriques, and Husted,
2020).
Volunteering: participant in many local causes which will be beneficial for the well-being of
the country where the organizations situated. Company also enhance their good deed by doing
social work as a volunteering. Like, training and development of the children who has no one or
unable to study because of the financial condition. Company also implement a plan and
greenery in the country for the betterment of the animals, and human.
