Introduction
Managing a project requires proper skill and knowledge in the use of control systems for
effectively achieving the required goals. This study deals with managing a project for the
Queensland Food Corp that deals with the provision of ice-cream, yogurt, bottled water, and
fruit juice.
Project Overview
The prime goal and objective of constructing a new product development plant is the need to
provide high-end products and services to customers within low budget allocations. The
problem due to which the study has been conducted includes the issues of lower profits and
sales than expected. The Queensland Food Corp has an opportunity to develop a new
production plant in order to improve their sales and thus this study is highly significant to
present the necessary plans. Being able to deliver high-quality products can help to keep
stable revenue and sales whereas the low budget allocations can also help to gain high
financial assets (Slack & Brandon-Jones, 2018). The success criteria of the project include an
increase in the profits of the brand and stakeholder satisfaction. Being able to complete the
project at low costs, scope and time-frame can allow increased success of the production
plant.
The prime assumptions include a variety of risks that may occur while developing the project.
These risks may include issues such as resistance from locals while developing the company
and negative effects on the health of locals during production. The proper use of
communication and presenting the benefits of the development can help to deal with
resistances from the locals. Additionally, the proper utilisation of waste management
processes and treatment of exhausts can be beneficial in preventing major negative impacts
on the health conditions of the local population. Another risk includes the allocation of higher
than required budget values thus leading to increased unnecessary losses. This can be
prevented by conducting a proper cost evaluation.
Budget and Activity Allocations
A budget value of $8.0 million was allocated by the senior-management committee of the
Queensland Food Corp for 11 projects under consideration. The development of a new
production plant in areas such as Tasmania or Victoria required a high budget value and thus
