MAIN BODY TASK 1 Overview of the company Marks & Spencer PLC also known as M&S which is British multinational retailer company situated in UK. It is founded in 1884 by Michael Marks & Thomas Spencer and currently Marks & Spencer PLC have 1463 stores across the world. Total stores in the UK is approx 959 including 615 that only sell food items (Marks & Spencer PLC,2019). History of Marks & Spencer PLC: This organization founded as partnership of Michael Marks who is Polish Jew & Thomas Spencer who is cashier. In 1901, Marks moved to Birkenhead to open a retail store with Spencer. They get the stall number 11 & 12 and open their store in famous Penny Bazaar. M&S profit will peak in the financial year 1997-1998 and get the huge growth. To run their business, both have to face various difficulties and challenges such as suppliers issue regarding credit.
