INTRODUCTION
Global business environment is the environment which makes the company to know
about the different countries market. This report is based on the Marks and Spencer Company
which is the British multinational retia store. The report will outline the SWOT analysis and
operation impact analysis of the company.
MAIN BODY
SWOT Analysis of the organization
Marks and Spencer is the British multinational company which used to do retail
business. The headquarters of the company are basically located in London and company
used to sell the variety of home products such as edible items and clothing (SWOT analysis
of Marks & Spencer, 2022). The SWOT analyses of the company are as follows:
Strengths: There are some of the strengths of the company which helps the company
to earn the good amount of profits. The organization is in the market for the last 136 and by
this it has the well experience in the retail business in United Kingdom. It is one of the
recognized brands and used to provide the quality of products to their customers in the
competitive market (Hajizadeh, 2019). The company used to sell its products offline that
means on stores and online also which increases the profits of company. The company used
to sell the variety of products to its customers and adopts the latest technologies in order to
have their production faster. This brand has made the good relationship with farmers in order
to give them fresh products so they can serve to their customers.
Weaknesses: With having some strength the company has some weaknesses which
used to decreases the profitability of the company. By having the record in 2019 it is seen that
the stores of the organization is declining the sales of the company. This is just because of the
low supply chain system and non-availability of the products in the market. As there were
great demands in the festive the and due to pandemic the company was not able to have new
products in the market (Wang and Wang, 2020). This has made the huge loss for the
company in the offline market as all the makes were closed.
Opportunities: The organization has the lots of opportunity in order to come back and
have great increase in the profits. Marks and Spencer is the big multinational brand so it can

expand its market globally. The company has opened its stores in the countries like India,
Russia, Brazil, Poland and Indonesia. Now the company has an opportunity in order to
expand its market in the various other countries. The company is having the online market
but the organization is not more famous so it must enhance e-commerce stores. By having the
retail market online the company can earn more profit (Ervural and et.al., 2018). As due to
pandemic and busy schedule of the people so by this they can purchase online. This makes
the company to have the lower cost in order to expand its market online.
Threats: The Company is the biggest retail market in the United Kingdom and having
the lots of competition with the other brands. Some of its competitors are Amazon, Tesco,
ASDA, Sainsbury, Morrison’s, etc. The organization must change its strategy in order to sell
its products and have unique and different strategy from its competitors. As if the company
would not change its strategy that the market share of the company will fade away. The
company graph in the market will be getting downwards if they do not change its strategies.
Operational Impact analysis
Operational impact analysis is used to determine the impact of loss on the operational
or on the technological resources. This loss on the business can affect the number of business
processes in the company (Gallego and et.al., 2018). By identifying and analysing the
implications the company can make the change on the loss made by them. From the above
SWOT it has identified some key drivers which have an impact on the functional areas of the
firm. It is very important for the company to have the operational analysis as it makes the
company to identify the areas where they are lacking. The key driver identified are loss
because of the pandemic and decision- making related to the online market must be
improved.
Marketing: Marketing refers to the activity which used to define the set of instructions and
the processes which helps in communicating, delivering, and having the exchange of offers
with the public in the market. As above it has find that the company has make the loss by the
happening of the pandemic so the marketing function of the company has face lots of
difficulties. The company was not able to do marketing of its products as the stores were
closed and all the delivery things were also closed so it has make the loss to the company at
the time of pandemic. With happening of the COVID the offline stores and online shopping
of the people were closed which has affected the profitability of the company. But now
company can have the good marketing in the market mad make the customers attract in order

to sell more. Recently on the New Year eve the company has offer the sale to their customers
and they used to sell the products at very low rate.
Human Resource Management: Human Resource Management is the strategic approach to
the company in order to have the effective and efficient management of the members in the
company (Farr and Bailey, 2019). This helps the company to gain the competitive advantage
and it is basically help in order to increase the performance of the employees and have good
strategic decision. As it is above identified that company has not taken the good decision-
making related to expand its market online so it affection the Human resource of the
company. As it so the duty of this management to have the good decisions related to every
aspects of the company. So the organization should have new and innovative strategies in
order make their decision perfect according to the situation. So this key driver has affected
the operation impact of the company. As doing online business is the big decision so the
company must make the good business decision in order to expand its market.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is concluded the SWOT analysis which used to describe the
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the company. Further, it describes the
operation impact analysis by identifying the key drivers from the SWOT analysis on two
functional areas.
