INTRODUCTION
This essay revolves around Martin John Bryant, an Australian mass murderer. He is
responsible for Port Arthur massacre, where he killed 35 people and injured 23 people. This is
considered to be one of the worst shoot sprays all over the globe. He was entitled to 35 life
sentences along with 1,035 years of imprisonment Bahar, N. H. and et. al. (2017). His
imprisonment is strictly without the possibility of parole. This report uses the trait theory and use
it as a tool to get insight on Martin John Bryant's mind in order to figure out the reason behind
how the killer inside of him was originated. The report also reflects on the incidents that took
place with him since his childhood that established the outline for his mental state. The essay
uses the Quay's theory of criminal subtypes along with Eysenck's Theory of criminality and
synchronise the core behind between two in order to support Martin's behavioural aspect in this
study.
MAIN BODY
The report revolves around Martin John Bryant and the massacre that he initiated. The
basis of analysis is Theory of Trait that establishes an outline for getting an insight in Martin's
mind. In addition to that Quay's theory of criminal subtypes and Eysenck's Theory of criminality
are used as well in order to categorise his mental state into a defined unit. In order to draw
reliable conclusions dynamics and situation since Martin's childhood are taken into
consideration. Martin's mother stated in an interview that he has always been a different child
when it comes to the aggression traits Cohen, S. (2017). She stated that Martin had a tendency to
break his toys no matter what emotional sentiments he had towards them. According to the
details collected from Martin's mother's interview he always had troubles retaining his job
because he had attitude issues and the employers were unable to entertain the same Esquivel‐
Muelbert, A. and et. al. (2019). This attitude of Martin's ave always put him in trouble. He have
been a part of such incidents since childhood. In accordance to the information collected from
the locals, and as far as they can recall, Martin once pulled a snorkel from a boy while diving,
although the situation was controlled but this could have caused the person his life. When asked
about it he told the interviewer that he enjoyed it. He didn't had any reasons behind it, he just did
it because he thought it would be funny to do so.
